Blue Devil Girls Edge IHA, Lose to Madison, Stop Lions

Having ceded five goals in the third quarter, the Westfield High School girls lacrosse team answered with five goals to edge Immaculate HeartAcademy, 9-8, on April 16. On April 18, the Blue Devils fell to the Madison Dodgers, 12-10, but rebounded to defeat the North Hunterdon Lions, 11-5, on April 20.

Blue Devil Gillian Cohen flicked in four goals and senior Lucy Mineo recorded two goals, an assist and two ground balls against IHA. Kate Watson finished with a goal, an assist and a ground ball.Alice Manzo scored once and added four draw controls and a pair of ground balls. Allie Constantinou scored once, dished out an assist and scooped two ground balls. Abi Mokrzycki had two draw controls and an assist. Maeve Wojcik scooped three ground balls and had three draws. Erin Hazard scooped a pair of ground balls. Logan Partridge had a ground ball. Goalkeepers Kaitlynn Czarnecki and Lauren Furey recorded two and one save, respectively.

Riley Ng-Knepper netted two goals and an assist for 2-4 IHA. Maddie Lively scored twice and added an assist and two ground balls. Alexa Kucharz also recorded two goals and an assist. Liliana Betz and Maddie Ayers each scored once. Goalkeeper Reagan Larson recorded nine saves.

Mineo netted four goals against Madison and Cohen had a hat trick (3 goals). Manzo had two goals, four draws and a ground ball. Julianna Molinelli had a goal and two assists. Mokrzycki had three draws. Watson and Wojcik each had two ground balls and a draw. Hazard had a ground ball. Sophia Modi led Madison with seven goals and Hadley Holland had five goals, two assists and six draws.

Cohen notched another hat trick against the Lions and Mineo finished with two goals, an assist and two ground balls. Manzo had two goals and four draws. Mokrzycki had a goal, three draws and three ground balls. Maddy Coen, Constantinou and Molinelli each scored once. Ana Jumenez led the Lions with three goals and Caroline Mueller had a goal and an assist.
