Ada L. Byrnes, 102, Lifelong Westfield Resident, Holy Trinity Communicant
Ada L. Byrnes passed away peacefully at her home in Westfield on Saturday, April 20, 2024. She was 102 years old. Born and raised in Westfield, she attended Westfield schools. She was a lifelong communicant of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Ada worked as a secretary with Bell Labs in Murray Hill for many years before retiring. She loved sewing, knitting, and was an avid reader. She especially loved to read her New York Times each day up until the age of 94.
Ada was predeceased by her parents, ThomasW. and Louise S. Byrnes, and her siblings, Anna Margaret Binnie, Thomas A., Cecilia Jensen, Robert A., Charles Joseph, Alice Marie and Patricia Byrnes. She is survived by her beloved caregiver, Maia, and by many nieces and nephews. Visitation was at Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield, on Wednesday, April 24, from 9 to 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. Funeral Mass at the Holy Trinity Church in Westfield.
