Library Announces Events Happening During April

GARWOOD — The Garwood Public Library will feature events for all ages throughout the month of April. Library hours are Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is closed on Sunday and also will be closed Friday and Saturday, March 29 and 30, in observance of Easter.

The Knitting Club will meet on all five Mondays of the month, April 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, at 10:30 a.m. Open to all levels, from beginner to advanced, the club offers participants the opportunity to spend an hour being creative while socializing. No registration is required. Yarn and needles are provided to newcomers.

Storytime will take place on four Tuesdays, April 9, 16, 23 and 30, at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Toddlers and their caregivers are invited to join Miss Maryanne for stories, bubbles and more. Registration is required.

Virtual Kid’s Craft will be held on Tuesday, April 9. Youngsters can pick up their craft supplies from the library and then watch the Facebook tutorial at 3 p.m. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants. Lego Club will meet on the Wednesdays of April 10 and 24, at 3 p.m. Participants are invited to take inspiration from the month’s theme or build whatever comes to mind. Some Lego creations will be displayed in the library showcase. Registration is required and limited to 12 participants.

Build It — Bean Bag Toss is scheduled for Thursday, April 11, at 3 p.m. Children in second grade and older are invited to swing a hammer, twist a screwdriver and go home with a bean bag toss game. Participation is limited to 10.

The Book Discussion Group will gather on Monday, April 15, at 1 p.m., for a lively chat about the month’s book, “Finding Dorothy,” by Elizabeth Letts.

Virtual Adult Craft is planned for Tuesday, April 16. Participants may pick up their craft supplies from the library and then watch the Facebook tutorial at 3 p.m. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 10 persons. Aging Services Kiosk will be available on Wednesday, April 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. Union County Division on Aging staff will be on hand to assist senior citizens (age 60 and older) or their caregivers with information on services such as meal delivery, respite care, adult day care and support services for caregivers.

In honor of National Poetry Month, the Garwood Council for Arts and Culture will hold a poetry reading at the library on Saturday, April 20, at 11:30 a.m., showcasing local artists.
