Makers Day Events On Tap at Library

SCOTCH PLAINS — The Scotch Plains Public Library will celebrate 10 years of New Jersey Makers Day on Friday and Saturday, March 15 and 16.

On March 15, adults can pick up supplies to make a paper four-leaf clover, while supplies last. On March 16, there will be a linoleum block printing workshop for pre-registered adults at 10 a.m.

Additionally on March 16, the Teen Advisory Board has organized an allday celebration of making for children and their families. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or while supplies last, the whole family is invited to stop by the children’s room to make buttons, origami, garlands, Lego constructions and clay art. In the afternoon, kids in grades 1 to 5 can try their hands at two engineering challenges: balloon-powered pasta cars at 2 p.m. and spaghettiand- marshmallow towers at 3 p.m.

Advance registration is required for the block printing, pasta car and spaghetti tower events. To register, visit www.scotlib.org/events or call (908) 322-5007.

For more information or to register for programs, go to www.scotlib.org, email library@scotlib.org or call (908) 322-5007, extension no. 204. The Scotch Plains Public Library is located at 1927 Bartle Avenue.
