Donald W. MacDonald

Donald W. MacDonald, 92, of Bay Head passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2024, at Crest Pointe Rehab Center in Point Pleasant, N.J.

Donald was born in Westfield to the late Frederick W. and Harriet Brooks (née Cosgrove) MacDonald and had resided there for a majority of his life before moving to Bay Head many years ago.

He was a graduate of Westfield High School and Rutgers University before entering the United States Navy. He served during the Korean War from 1953 and was honorably discharged as a lieutenant jg in 1957.

Donald then went on to a successful career as an advertising sales executive with Forbes Inc. in New York City.

Don and his late wife, Lynn, were members of both the Plainfield Country Club and the Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle. As a resident of Bay Head, Don was very active in the Bay Head Chapel, serving in several Chapel Advisory positions. He was also a member of the Board of Directors

of Fairview Cemetery in Westfield for over 50 years.

Donald was predeceased by his wife of 30 years, Marguerite Lynn (née Schoel) MacDonald, on November 5, 2010; his parents; his brother, William P. MacDonald, and two sisters, Lydia Brunner and Claire Styles. He is survived by his devoted children and their spouses, Douglas and Christine MacDonald of Granite Springs, N.Y., and Julie and Barry Falterman of Red Bank, N.J., and his five grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring Donald on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at 12 p.m., at the Bay Head Chapel, 442 Main Avenue, Bay Head, N.J. 08742.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Donald to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the O’Brien Funeral Home in Brick Township.
