Expressing Concerns About the Size And Scope of One Westfield Place

Dear Streetworks Developers, We hope this letter finds you well.As newly elected members of theWestfield Town Council, we, Councilmen Todd Saunders,Dr.MichaelArmento,Michal Domogala, and David Kiefer, are writing to you in our individual capacities as advocates for the residents of Westfield. This letter does not represent a legally binding decision by vote of the town council but rather expresses our personal concerns and advocacy on behalf of our constituents.

Yourproposedproject,OneWestfield Place (OWP), stands to significantly alter the landscape and character of our beloved town. While we understand the potential benefits of mixed-use developments, the size and scope of OWP raise serious concerns among many of the Westfield residents we are sworn to represent.

Throughout our recent, successful campaign for town council, we heard loud and clear from our constituents about their apprehensions regarding the impact of such a massive development on our community. The promises we made during our campaign to advocate for projects more responsive to the needs of our town were not mere rhetoric; they reflect our commitment to ensuring that any significant development aligns with the character and values of Westfield.

OneWestfieldPlace’sproposedhighrise structure is incompatible with the predominantly low- rise residential nature of our town. The overdevelopment that this project represents not only threatens the aesthetic appeal of Westfield but also strains our existing infrastructure. Our roads, schools, and public services are already under pressure, and this project would only exacerbate those challenges.

Furthermore, the lack of consideration forthesurroundingneighborhoods and their residents is deeply troubling. The anticipated increase in traffic congestion, limited parking availability, and the influx of new residents will undoubtedly burden our community and diminish the quality of life for current residents. It is imperative to prioritize responsible development that preserves the charm and character that make Westfield unique.

While we recognize and respect the binding agreements Streetworks Developers has already entered into with the Town of Westfield, we hope that you will be open to reconsidering the size and scope of the planned project in consultation with the Town. As such, we are ready to offer our assistance in coordinating discussions between Streetworks Developers and community stakeholders to explore alternative solutions that address the concerns raised by our constituents. We believe that by working together, we can find creative solutions that benefit all parties involved and contribute to the longterm prosperity of our town.

We stand firm in our advocacy for a smaller scale and scope that respects the needs and values of our community. We believe that responsible growth requires comprehensive planning, transparent decision-making, and genuine engagement with the residents who will be most affected, while preserving our small-town charm and quality of life. We look forward to constructive dialogue and collaboration as we work together to shape the future of our community.

Please be advised that this letter represents the personal opinions of the undersigned councilmen and does not constitute an official decision or position of the Westfield Town Council as a governing body. This communication is intended for informational purposes only and should not be construed as legal advice or a formal statement of policy from theTown ofWestfield.Any actions or decisions taken by Streetworks Developers in response to this correspondence are at its own discretion and should be in accordance with its contractual obligations to the Town of Westfield.

Todd Saunders Dr. Michael Armento Mike Domogala David Kiefer Westfield Councilmen
