SCOTCH PLAINS — The Scotch Plains Public Library will present “Going, Going Gone…What the Next Generation Won’t Remember” this Saturday, February 10, at 2 p.m., an interactive nostalgic program spotlighting items that are no longer part of people’s everyday lives.
Author and journalist Maryanne Christiano-Mistretta will walk attendees down memory lane and talk about products and items that are either on their way out the door, or now completely obsolete.
Among the objects fading from memory are VHS videotapes, phone booths (and making phone calls in general!), travel agents, bookstores, newspapers and classified ads, wristwatches, maps, dial-up internet, encyclopedias, CDs, landline phones, film cameras, Yellow Pages and address books, and hand-written letters. Which of these items do people miss? Some may surprise you.
Participants also may bring their own old items for “Show and Tell” and share their views during this lecture — audience participation is greatly encouraged.
