Input Sought for Forest Road Survey

The Borough of Fanwood is always trying to take advantage of opportunities to apply for grants that will make the Borough a better place to live. Currently, we have an opportunity to apply for a Green Acres Grant which we would use to make further improvements in Forest Road Park. In 2021 the Borough of Fanwood completed the Phase 1 improvements of Forest Road Park, which included the new basketball court, two new pickleball courts, new landscaping and new benches. The Borough is in the planning stages for the Phase 2 improvements of Forest Road Park and is preparing a grant application to the NJ Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Green Acres for partial funding of these improvements.

The existing tennis courts are in poor condition and lack appropriate drainage. At the very least, the Borough is considering the removal of the existing tennis courts, the installation of drainage improvements and the expansion of the playground area with new equipment. We would like your opinion on the new look for the park.

As we are in the planning stages, we would like to get your ideas through a survey which we will provide a link to below. We ask that you fill the survey out by February 5.

Additionally, We have retained the services of a civil engineering firm that has prepared a concept plan with some of our thoughts and they will be presenting the project at our February 5 Council Agenda Meeting at 7 p.m. at our council chambers located at 75 North Martine Avenue, Fanwood, NJ. If you are interested in hearing about the project and offering comments, we invite you to attend the meeting.

Mayor Colleen Mahr
Fanwood
