Westfield ‘Y’ Devilfish Swim At Holiday Invt’l

The Westfield Area YMCA Devilfish sent 90 qualifying swimmers to the MR CIY FLY Holiday Invitational held at the Nassau County Aquatic Center in East Meadow, NY on December 8-10. This competitive mid-season meet brought together 13 teams from the tri-state area. The 11+ swimmers competed in preliminaries, with the Top-16 swimmers advancing to finals. Age group 10U swam timed finals only.

Team highlights include: 4 new YNational qualifying swims, 45 new YState Championship times, 28 new YSilver Championship times, 6 new USA Swimming Eastern Zone Championship times, and 306 personalbest times.

Danny Pierce (Boys 15+) and Gemma Giordano (Girls 11-12) were both awarded top point leaders in their respective age groups. Kaylie Gao set a new Devilfish record in the Girls 13-14 400 IM. Kaylie dropped approximately 3 seconds for a time of

4:47.94. This swim bettered the decade plus record of 4:48.19 previously set in 2012.
