Oz Wizardry Happening at Cranford Dramatic Club Theatre

CRANFORD – “Lions, and Tigers, and Bears, oh my” is the familiar line from The Wizard of Oz movie of the 1930s when characters are about to enter the dark, scary forest on their way to the Emerald City. The Cranford Dramatic Club Theatre (CDC) brings to life those familiar characters and situations in their production of the L. Frank Baum, Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg’s show. It’s not an easy feat to recreate/reinvent/rejuvenate a classic. In fact, it can be a double-edged sword for an actor to try to portray the iconic Dorothy or her unforgettable sidekicks while making the characters their own. But producers Shannon Ludlum and Mike Burdick and director Colleen Renee Lis have done a delightful job in honoring the classic while bringing fresh eyes to the beloved piece. job in honoring the classic while bringing fresh eyes to the beloved piece.
