It was good to hear that Carl Burger has been recognized by the Westfield Board of Educationandthathisworkwillbeincluded within the district’s art curriculum and programs. Carl was a recognized artist whose work has been collected, acquired and exhibited internationally and first taught at WHS in the mid 1950s before joining and becoming a tenured professor of art at the then Newark State Teachers’ College, now Kean University.And while atWHS he was referenced by my art teachers, Ms. Schenk and Ms. Grancolas andAnneAtlas, a world renowned portrait painter at the Atlas Art Studio, formerly on E Broad St. next to the Try Cobb Pet Store.
