Ellen Margaret Morrison Lagano

Ellen M. Lagano, 75, Past Pres. of PTA

At St. Bartholomew; Fmr. Library Clerk

Ellen Margaret Morrison Lagano, 75, of Fanwood, N.J., passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

Ellen was born in the Saint Albans section of Queens, N.Y., and was raised in the Laurelton and Richmond Hill sections of that borough. After high school, Ellen immediately began her career as a secretary at Lever Brothers in Manhattan, N.Y. She met her husband, Dominic Sr., while both were volunteering at their local church’s bingo night. She and Dominic moved to Fanwood in 1977 to raise their family. While there, she became a Library Clerk at the Fanwood Library, a role she enjoyed for twenty years before retiring. She also loved working at the Fanwood Animal Hospital, helping to care for the furry residents of the area. In 2011, Ellen and Dominic Sr. moved to Woodbridge, N.J., where they enjoyed more golden years together before his passing. She settled back home in Fanwood in 2018.

Ellen was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains, N.J., and enjoyed attending Sunday Masses. She also was a former member and past president of St. Bartholomew’s P.T.A. while her children were enrolled in school there. Ellen loved raising her children and helping with her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking family vacations to the Pocono Mountains and going on cruises with Dominic Sr. Ellen was a lover of animals, especially the numerous family dogs.

Ellen is predeceased by her husband, Dominic Sr., and her brother, John Morrison. She is survived by her son, Dominic (Kara); her two daughters, Dawn Cammarano (Leon) and Deborah Ann D’Amico (James); her three grandchildren, Nicholas Cammarano, Noelle Cammarano and Isabella Lagano; and her sister, Laura Turner (Gene).

The funeral mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church. Donations and contributions can be made in Ellen’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.
