The Doctor is In

I am proud to write a letter in support of Dr. Michael Armento, a candidate running for Westfield Town Council’s Ward 2. I have known Dr. Armento for over 22 years and I can assure you that he is a good man as well as a fine physician.

Dr. Armento and I worked together at Children’s Specialized Hospital where I served as a speech-language pathologist and he served as a pediatric physiatrist, a medical doctor who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation. Children’s Specialized is a rehabilitation hospital for children who suffer with severe disabilities or injuries and require a team approach to their care. The team is led by a physiatrist who oversees and manages the care of their patients with input from team members such as speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses, nutritionists, behaviorists, psychologists, among others. This type of position requires skill and a great deal of teamwork. Dr. Armento has always been known as a team player who is used to listening to the team, collaborating with multiple professionals, measuring varied opinions, making difficult decisions based on meaningful and appropriate input from others, and bringing about effective outcomes. These are the skills that Dr. Armento will bring to the Westfield Town Council.

Excellent governance requires teamwork, collaboration, listening to the constituents, measuring their opinions, making decisions, and being effective. This is precisely what Dr. Armento does and this is precisely who he is. We have experienced how divided a community can become when these qualities are absent from our leadership. Let us elect someone who possesses these abilities on day one and requires no learning curve.

It was my good fortune to have been part of Dr. Armento’s team which was known for its dedication, teamwork, and effective outcomes. He is kind, easy to work with, and highly skilled yet fiercely protective of his patients. This is what Dr. Armento will bring to Westfield’s Town Council and this is what Westfield desperately needs. He will protect our town with the same ferocity that he cares for his patients. I proudly and wholeheartedly endorse Dr. Michael Armento for Ward 2. The doctor is in!
