WESTFIELD – Choral Art Society of New Jersey, one of the area’s leading choral organizations, is excited to welcome new singers for its 2023/2024 Season. Experienced singers are invited to attend open rehearsals on Tuesday, September 12 and September 19 at 7:30 pm. Rehearsals are held in the Parish Hall Chapel of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue, Westfield. Attending an open rehearsal is an opportunity to learn more about the group, meet current members, and consider joining. No formal auditions are conducted.
Choral Art Society of New Jersey has been in existence for 60 years and is a group of avocational singers dedicated to the study and performance of the great choral masterpieces, performing works spanning many centuries and styles.
The 2023/2024 Season, programmed by Music Director Martin Sedek, promises to be unique and exciting. The Rutter: Mass of the Children and the Chilcott: Circle Songs will be performed on January 28, 2024. Choral Art Society is honored to be joined by the Youth Chorus of New Jersey for this concert of consideration of our children and our stewardship of the future. In addition, a new work by composer Andrey Stolyarov, commissioned by Choral Art Society of New Jersey, will premiere at this concert.
The May 4, 2024 spring concert will feature works by classical music’s most famous sibling “rivalry” – The Brothers Haydn – and will include the Lord Nelson Mass and Missa Brevis in C Major. An orchestra and professional soloists will join the chorus for this performance.
