Cranford Approves Salaries, Awards Admin. Stipend

CRANFORD — The Cranford Township Committee voted during a special meeting held Thursday to award a stipend of $2,000 per week to Police Chief Ryan Greco for his services as the township’s interim business administrator.

Chief Greco was appointed to the position on December 14, following the abrupt departure of long-time Administrator Jamie Cryan.

The township has not provided any further details as to the reason for Mr. Cryan’s absence, nor has it given any indication as to how long Chief Greco will be asked to step in.

The committee also voted to approve its municipal salary guide for 2023 at its meeting on Thursday.

Chief Greco will be paid the $104,000 stipend in addition to his regular salary of $189,049, up from $176,330 in 2021.

Other notable increases include those awarded to Fire Chief Dan Czeh who will be paid $182,332.37 next year (up from $168,319 in 2021); Chief Financial Officer Lavona Patterson (whose salary will increase from $148,986 to $161,390.50); and Recreation and Parks Director Stephen Robertazzi (who will be paid $134,875 next year, up from $126,161 in 2021).

Township Clerk Patricia Donahue will see an increase of $8,143 for a total salary of $99,750. Caren Demyen, the director of Cranford’s Downtown Management Corporation, will be paid $100,170.05 (up from $91,350 in 2021), and Public Works Superintendent Erik Hastrup will see an increase of $5,460 for a total salary of $115,336 in 2023.

Township records indicate that Mr. Cryan was paid $144,550 last year.
