BUDGET TALKWestfield Town Administrator Jim Gildea and Councilman Sal Caruana join Westfield Leader Assignment Editor Paul Peyton to discuss the Westfield municipal budget. The video can be seen at

MEET YOUR CONGRESSMANScotch Plains’ Evergreen Elementary School’s staff and students recently welcomed Rep. Michael Ferguson (R-7) to their school. In an informal question-and-answer setting, they discussed New Jersey state government and politics, as well as national political issues.

Government Reform Thoughts

We believe that information pertinent to a municipal budget should be made readily available. For example, in Scotch Plains a councilman has requested figures for the revenues of the new mini-golf course. We cannot understand why financial reports on this new venture have not been compiled or why the request for these figures would be met with opposition.  - See year-to-date reform thoughts.
