WE'VE GOT SPIRIT…Westfield High School students held their pep rally indoors in the school gym last Wednesday due to inclement Thanksgiving Day weather. Spirits were not dampened, although the annual football game was moved to Saturday, when the Blue Devils prevailed at Plainfield by a score of 17-7.

LOOKING OVER PUBLIC MATTERS...Scotch Plains Councilman-elect Kevin Glover reviews the plans and specifications for the nearly $4 million improvements to the Scotch Plains Municipal Building with The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Times staff last Friday. Mr. Glover is experienced in construction management.

CLOSING IN...The Westfield Foundation helps the Westfield Library close in on its $700,000 improvement goal by donating $40,000 to the cause. The library has raised $660,000, including gifts ranging from change donated by children to business contributions.

Government shall pass no law imposing or increasing fines for the primary or incidental purpose of revenue generation as this is a backdoor method of increasing taxation.
