2012-01-22 - Westfield - A fire destroyed a large section of the block on South Avenue on Sunday, January 22, 2012. (www.goleader.com/photos) - Clyne & Murphy, Sound Station and Rocky the Taylor were consumed.
The fire wrapped the entire block of stores from South Avenue to Westfield Avenue.
Firemen from many fire companies throughout the County fought the blaze under icy conditions from mid-afternoon (about 3:30 pm) until late that evening (about 9 pm).
Traffic was diverted from several blocks around the area for several hours during the inferno.
No serious injuries were reported. Unconfirmed reports were received of two bystanders being injured when they slipped on the ice.
