WESTFIELD TO REOPEN HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL SEARCH

William J. Foley, Superintendent of the Westfield Public Schools, announced today that he will reopen the search for a new principal for Westfield High School. Upon further reflection, the leading candidate for the position, Anthony Akey, decided that he was not willing to relinquish the tenure that he now holds as assistant principal in the Summit Public Schools.

"A newly hired Westfield administrator is not granted tenure automatically, but earns it after three successful years in the position," explained Dr. Foley. "It is unfortunate that Mr. Akey did not accept the terms of the Westfield administrator contract," said Dr. Foley, "but we are confident that we will find the right match for Westfield High School without compromising the standards of our performance review process." Dr. Foley anticipates assigning an interim principal until a new search and selection process is completed.
