Miss Amy C. McFadden To Wed Benton Cummings, 2nd

Mr. and Mrs. Bruce McFadden of Westfield have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Amy C. McFadden of Washington, D.C., to Benton P. Cummings, 2nd of Westfield. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Cummings, also of Westfield.

A 1989 graduate of Westfield High School, the future bride received her Bachelor of Arts Degree with honors from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1993.

She was awarded her Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1998, where she was a member and executive editor of the Virginia Journal of International Law.

Miss McFadden is an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Freshfields LLP, a British law firm, where she practices international project finance. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and is awaiting admission to the District of Columbia Bar Association.

Her fiancé also graduated from Westfield High School in 1989 and from Dartmouth College in 1993, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History.

He spent three years as an investment banking analyst and associate with Morgan Stanley Dean Witter before attending the University of North Carolina Business School. Mr. Cummings received his Master of Business Administration Degree this year, with a

focus on finance and entrepreneurship.

He will begin work in August with Allied Capital, a venture capital organization in Washington, D.C.

The couple plan to be married in October in Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

Timothy Leonard Joins Day Family

Timothy and Debra Day of Westfield have announced the birth of their son, Timothy Leonard Day, on Thursday, April 29, at Overlook Hospital in Summit.

Timothy weighed 6 pounds and 10 ounces and measured 19ľ inches in length at birth.

He joins his sister, Courtney Anne, age 2˝.

Timothy’s maternal grandparents are Leonard Zuravnsky of Linden and Veronica Pearce of Ocean Township.

His paternal grandparents are Jerry and Anne Day of Longmont, Colorado.

The baby’s paternal great-grandmother is Geneva Day of Bastrop, Louisiana.

WESTFIELD — Anjali Bansal of Westfield is participating in the Cooperative Education Program at Montclair State University.

Anjali, a computer science major, is employed at Silhouette Optical, Ltd. in Northvale.

WESTFIELD – Carrie Anne Petrik, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Petrik of Westfield, graduated from Simon’s Rock College of Bard in Great Barrington, MA.

She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Gender Studies/Politics, Law and Society.

SCOTCH PLAINS – Jennifer Kanarek of Scotch Plains was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 1999 semester at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.

Jennifer is a member of the Class of 2002. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Kanarek.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

WESTFIELD — Two Westfield students received degrees during commencement exercises May 23 at Middlebury College, VT.

Laura T. Todd, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Todd of Westfield, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. Frances R. Madsen, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Madsen of Westfield, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Spanish.

WESTFIELD — Craig Long of Westfield has been named to the Dean’s List for the 1999 spring semester at Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y. He is a sophomore printmaking major.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.4 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

SCOTCH PLAINS — Adam Baumwoll of Scotch Plains has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring 1999 semester at Brandeis University in Waltham, MA.

Adam is a member of the Class of 2002. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Baumwoll.

To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must obtain a grade point average of 3.5 or better.

Four area residents have earned degrees from Ithaca College in New York.

Lesley B. Cooper of Scotch Plains received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Television-Radio from the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

A Dean’s List student, Lesley was active with WICB-FM campus radio and served as producer of the “Andalusia Court” program on Ithaca College Television. She is a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

Jared C. Budd of Scotch Plains earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the School of Humanities and Sciences. A Dean’s List student, Jared was a four-year member of

the varsity football team. He is a graduate of Kinnelon High School.

Jill H. Goldberger of Westfield graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Acting, with honors, from the School of Humanities and Sciences.

Placed on the Dean’s List every semester since she entered Ithaca College, she was inducted into the Oracle and Phi Kappa Phi national honor societies. She was featured in several campus productions and participated in local theater. She is a graduate of Westfield High School.

James B. Kelleher of Westfield received a Bachelor of Science Degree in

Recreation and Leisure Studies from the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance. He had a concentration in generalist recreation.

James was a three-year member of the varsity soccer team. He is a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School.

WESTFIELD – Sandra Malak of Westfield received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Synthesis from the Berklee College of Music in Boston.

WESTFIELD – Megan Erin Bender, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bender of Westfield, received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Education from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA.

A 1995 graduate of Westfield High School, Megan will participate in the University of Virginia’s Corry School of Education’s Master’s Program in Secondary School Guidance in the fall.

Local residents received degrees from The University of Delaware in Newark, DE, on May 29.

Allison Janelle Paruta and Lynn Kushner, both of Westfield, earned Bachelor of Arts Degrees. Amy Elizabeth Sincavage of Scotch Plains received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Saunders of Westfield, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring semester at Elon College in NC.

The Dean’s List is composed of students with no grade below a “B” and a grade point average of at least 3.40 in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Amada Ginsberg of Fanwood earned a Master of Arts in Teaching,

Lydia Matombo of Scotch Plains graduated summa cum laude with a

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.

Stewart Brittner of Westfield received a Master of Science Degree in Science.

Stephanie L. Sasso of Westfield, a junior in the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, has been named to the Dean’s List for the spring quarter of the 1998-1999 academic year.

Students on the Dean’s List must attain a grade point average of 3.70 on a 4.0 scale.

WESTFIELD – Michael James Stappas and Eric Ruano, both of Westfield, graduated from Radford University, VA, at the end of the spring semester.

Michael, the son of Thomas Stappas of Westfield, received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Management. Eric, the son of Lilia E. Ruano, received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.

earned Bachelor of Science Degrees.

SCOTCH PLAINS — Dana Ruth Horning of Scotch Plains received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA, on May 16.

* * * * * SCOTCH PLAINS — Lauren Marie Thomson of Scotch Plains has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Architecture from Clemson University, SC, in May.

Lauren, a 1995 graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Thompson.

She will complete an internship in a New York City architectural firm. She will then return to Clemson University to obtain a Master of Architecture Degree. She may study in Geneoa, Italy.

SCOTCH PLAINS — Lauren L. Blalock of Scotch Plains has received a Cambridge Scholarship from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. She will begin her freshman year at Rhodes in August.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steven M. Meston of Scotch Plains, she is a 1999 graduate of Scotch PlainsFanwood High School.

of Westfield received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Dartmouth College in NH on June 13. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Albertson of Westfield. He majored in studio art.

She received the John Dos Passos Award for creative writing. She will attend New York University.
