Miss Michelle Infantino To Wed Michael Magee

Miss Allison M. Rees Marries Scott A. Mills

Miss Allison Meghan Rees, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rees of Scotch Plains, was married on Saturday, June 13, to Scott Arron Mills. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Mills of Hopkinton, New Hampshire.

The ceremony took place at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, with the bride escorted down the aisle by her father. A reception took place at the Colonia Country Club in Colonia.

Miss Kathleen Rees of Christiana, Delaware and Miss Jennifer Rees of Scotch Plains, the sisters of the bride, were the maids of honor. The bridal attendants included Mrs. Jennie Roberge of Durham, New Hampshire and Miss Bethany LeClerc of New London, New Hampshire.

Shawn Mills of Culver City, California was the best man for his brother. Serving as ushers were Norman Huckins of Seattle, Washington, James McLennand of Grantham, New Hampshire, James Manus of Henniker, New Hampshire and John Alexander of New London.

The bride, a 1993 graduate of Scotch PlainsFanwood High School,

was awarded her Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of New Hampshire at Durham in 1998. She is employed as a Project Engineer for Underwood Engineering, Inc. in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

The bridegroom, a 1991 graduate of Hopkinton High School in Hopkinton, earned an associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology from New Hampshire Technical College. He is employed by Signature Computers in North Hampton, New Hampshire.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents of the bridegroom at Steak and Ale in Mountainside.

The couple reside in Newmarket, New Hampshire.

Women’s Professional Group Announces Dinner Meeting

WESTFIELD — The Berkeley Heights/ Clark/ Westfield Business and Professional Women (BCW/ BPW) monthly dinner meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19, at the Kenilworth Inn in Kenilworth.

Networking will take place at 6: 30 p. m. Dinner and the program will begin at 7 p. m. Nonmembers are welcome to attend.

Joy Fickett, owner of First Choice Placement Agency for Women in the Workplace, will discuss how

she established her business and the role of her agency with working women.

BCW/ BPW is part of BPW/ NJ and BPW/ USA. Membership in the organization offers professional growth, individual development, personal empowerment and legislative awareness.

Advance registration for the dinner meeting will be required. The cost of dinner will be $20 per person.

Girl Scout Council Prepares ‘Take Back the Night’ Event

WESTFIELD — Washington Rock Girl Scout Council (WRGSC) has announced that it is organizing a “Take Back the Night” event, comprised of volunteers and social service agencies.

The goal of the event, according to organizer and WRGSC Membership Specialist Jen Johnson, is to “stand up to violence against women and girls.

A planning meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19, from 7: 30 to 9: 30 p. m. in the Study at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue in Garwood.

“WRGSC is organizing ‘Take Back the Night’ for adult and high school girls throughout Union, Middlesex and Somerset Counties, with assistance from Union County Rape Crisis Center and Kean University,” stated Ms. Johnson.

“We are planning an event on April 17, to provide female empowerment, personal safety and violence awareness programs in addition to a candlelight processional, and we need volunteers and other interested agencies to help make this a tremendous success,” she added.

Toastmasters Schedules Meeting for Tonight

WESTFIELD – The Toastmasters of Westfield will hold its second meeting tonight, Thursday, January 14, from 8 to 10 p. m. at the First Savings Bank, 200 South Avenue in Fanwood.

The group meets on the first, second and fourth Thursdays of each month at the bank. The purpose of the club is to improve each members’ public speaking and leadership abilities. Prospective members are welcome to attend.

Bill Hetfield of Plainfield will be the toastmaster for the meeting. Steve Bacque of Linden will deliver the meeting’s “Opener.” Club President, Sandy Aptecker, will discuss the Table Topics portion of the meeting.

The meeting will feature speakers, Steven Dunn of Garwood, Greg Fazekas of Fanwood, and Todd Schwartz of Scotch Plains. The evaluators will be Anne Baker of Westfield, Max Florville of Metuchen and Debbie Krajcik. The Master Evaluator will be Noel Crawford of Mountainside.

Bob Tevis of Cranford will be the Timer and Michelle Tropper of Scotch Plains will be the Grammarian. Jim Vandewater of Union will be the “Ah” counter.

Melissa Long Earns Degree at Roanoke

WESTFIELD — Melissa A. Long, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas R. Long of Westfield, recently earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in history from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia.

Melissa is a graduate of Westfield High School.

Drew McNeil Pinkin Named to Dean’s List

WESTFIELD — Drew McNeil Pinkin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Pinkin of Westfield, has been named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts.

Drew spent his junior semester abroad in Australia at the University of Sydney. A 1995 graduate of The Pingry School in Martinsville, he is a senior economics major at Boston College.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Infantino of Westfield have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss

Michelle Infantino, also of Westfield, to Michael Magee of Clark. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Magee of Cranford.

The brideelect graduated from Westfield High School in 1993 and from Kean University in Union in 1997 with a degree in recreation administration.

She is employed by the Westfield Board of Education and by the Five Points YMCA in Union as Field Coordinator for the Aftercare Program.

Her fiancι graduated from Cranford High School in 1989 and served in the United States Navy until 1992. He is employed as a splicer by Bell Atlantic.

A wedding is planned for the spring of this year.

Vanderbilt University Announces Dean’s List

WESTFIELD – Elizabeth Ann Mlynarczyk and Michael L. Fisher, both of Westfield, were recently named to the Fall 1998 Dean’s List at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

To qualify, students must have a grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for the semester.

Elizabeth Ann is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Peter J. Mlynarczyk.

Michael is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steven D. Fisher.

Lauren Rabadeau Dances in Concert

SCOTCH PLAINS – Lauren Rabadeau of Scotch Plains recently performed in the works “A little something like this…” and “La Historia de Mate” in the Dance Company’s fall performance at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

A junior majoring in management, Lauren is the daughter of Evelyn and Gerard Rabadeau of Scotch Plains. She is a graduate of Scotch PlainsFanwood High School.

Lauren has been an active member of the Dance Company, performing in several dance concerts. She is also a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
