Speech Therapist’s Manual Details Classroom Exercises

Eileen Eisner, Director of Speech and Language Services and Theragraphics in Westfield, has announced the publication of her book, "Merging Language Intervention with Classroom Practices: A Guide for the Speech-Language Pathologist."

This professional manual is published by Pro-ed of Austin, Texas, a publisher in the field of special education and speech-language pathology.

"Merging Language Intervention with Classroom Practices" assists the school speech language pathologist to provide in-class speech and language therapy to primary school students having communication challenges.

Mrs. Eisner’s manual provides instruction for adapting clinical strategies to actual classroom settings and lessons, including comprehensive examples of teaching units as well as ready-to-use samples of journal patterns, listen-and-draw, read-and-draw, syntax exercises, articulation sheets and poem patterns.

These exercises teach phonology, articulation, decoding, listening comprehension, oral and written language, while enriching classroom reading and writing experiences, according to the author.

Mrs. Eisner has over 30 years experience as a school speech-language pathologist, special education teacher, clinical supervisor, educational consultant, teacher-trainer and school administrator.

She maintains a private speech therapy practice that focuses on improving the communication skills of clients ranging from pre-schoolers to geriatrics. For additional information, Mrs. Eisner may be reached at (908) 233-6602.
