AT ATTENTION...United States military veterans stood before the Westfield World War I Monument near the intersection of Broad Street and North Avenue, on Veterans Day, to pay their respects to those men and women who served this country and sacrificed their lives in its wars. At exactly 11 a.m., the bell at the First United Methodist Church chimed 11 times as the area was blanketed in melancholy silence.

RAIDERS WINNING A THRILLER… Nathan Jones, No. 22, rushes for one of his six touchdowns in the unbelievable, knee-knocking State Sectional game against the Vikings. Linemen Dan Loomis, No. 75, and Bob Dinsmore, No. 65, helped open up the holes. The Raiders won a wild one, 42-41, against Parsippany Hills in Scotch Plains on November 13.

JOINING THE COUNCIL...Republican Frank Rossi is shown here after taking the oath of office from Township Clerk Barbara Riepe, far right, as the newest member of the Scotch Plains Township Council. Mr. Rossi was chosen by voters in a special election November 2 to fill the seat of Franklin Donatelli, who died in May. The election gives Republicans a 3-2 majority on the governing body.
