Education Fund Commended For Support of Local Schools THANKS FOR SUPPORT…Thomas Morabito, President of the Education

Fund of Westfield, receives a resolution from Darielle Walsh, President of the Westfield Board of Education, in appreciation of the Fund’s support of the schools.

WESTFIELD – The Education Fund of Westfield received a framed resolution on October 19 from the Board of Education, acknowledging the Fund’s support of the Westfield public schools.

Board President Darielle Walsh presented the resolution at the public meeting to newly-elected President of the Education Fund Thomas Morabito.

Since its inception in 1991, the Education Fund of Westfield has helped raise more than $40,000 to

support programs which might otherwise not be funded through the regular state-capped school budget, according to school district spokeswoman Lorre Korecky.

The board expressed appreciation for teacher and school-based grants totaling $15,000 that were made possible in the last few years by the Education Fund. Special recognition was given to the recent $25,000 grant that funded the installation of specialized computer equipment at Westfield High School.

DECA Chapter Announces 10th Annual Toy Drive

SCOTCH PLAINS – The Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School DECA Chapter, an association of marketing students, will sponsor its 10th annual Toy Drive this year to bring cheer to disadvantaged children during the holiday season.

DECA and the Interfaith Council are hoping to brighten the holidays

for nearly 100 families and almost 200 children in the area, and several holiday parties are planned.

Individuals and businesses are being asked to contribute new toys or make cash donations. Any contribution would be appreciated, according to project Chairman RJ Milligan.

Area Boy Scouts To Hold Annual Food Collection

During the weekend of November 13, parent-supervisedscoutswilldistribute specially-marked bags or descriptive requests to homes in their assigned neighborhoods.

Homeowners are asked to fill a bag with nourishing, non-perishable, unbreakable containers of food products that can be stocked at a food pantry.

The scouts will return to the same homes they visited previously to take the bags to a local food pantry, such as a church or a community facility.
