HELPING OTHERS AND SAYING GOODBYE… Scotch Plains residents and owners of Stew’s Restaurant in Gillette, Bob and Eleanor Kloss, are closing their business after 29 years. Mr. and Mrs. Kloss have welcomed individuals from Our House, Inc. in Berkeley Heights who have developmental disabilities to work in their restaurant for many years.

“We’re looking forward to retiring, but we’ll miss this place. When we told everyone, Richard, one of the men from Our House cried,” said Bob Kloss. “Our customers got to know the Our House group when they started seeing them here and at Pathmark. Angela Ezeta is their main job coach and she is like a mother hen. She makes sure everything goes smoothly.”

The restaurant is closing and making way for a chain drug store.

Educational Services Center Offers PSAT/ SAT Courses

SCOTCH PLAINS — Educational Services Center, an established tristate PSAT/ SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) training facility, is offering preparation courses for the fall at locations in Scotch Plains, Edison, Summit and Metuchen.

This course teaches testtaking techniques, in addition to improving mathematics and verbal skills.

Experienced, licensed high school teachers, who are skilled in preparing students for the PSAT/ SATs, will conduct eight, threehour sessions for classes of 10 to 17 students.

The cost for the course is $330 per student, including books. Students can arrange for free, additional help with the instructor.

According to Marcia Frankel, Director of Educational Services Cen ter, knowing how to take a test is as

important as knowing the material. She said that Educational Services Center’s PSAT/ SAT Preparation courses enhance students’ ability to take a test by giving them confidence.

The center guarantees that students will improve their combined score by 100 points, or they can retake five sessions of the course, free of charge, in the following season.
