Theodore P. Engert, 63, of Mountainside died on Monday, June 28, at home.
Born in New York City, he had lived in The Bronx before moving to
Mountainside 32 years ago. Mr. Engert had worked in management for Lucent Technologies in Berkeley Heights before retiring in 1990. Previously, he had been employedby WesternElectricandAT&T in Manhattan and at several locations in New Jersey.
Hereceived abachelor’sdegreefrom Manhattan College and took graduate courses at Brooklyn Poly Tech.
He was a member of the New Jersey Canoe Club and the Sierra Club.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy J. Engert; two sons, Philip T. Engert and Thomas J. Engert; three daughters, Gail M. Engert, Carolyn R. Peryea and Elizabeth E. Manzo, and two grandchildren.

Dorothy Wittke, 87
DorothyTaylor Wittke,87,ofPoint Pleasant died on Thursday, June 24, in Brick Hospital in Brick Township.
Born in East Orange, she had lived in Westfield before relocating to the New Jersey Shore area. She lived in the Point Pleasant and Bay Head areas since 1941.
Mrs. Wittke was a member of the Bay Head Yacht Club, the Sea Weeders Garden Club in Bay Head and the New Jersey Golf Association. She was a former member of the Manasquan River Golf Club in Brielle and the Echo Lake Country ClubinWestfield, andwasPastPresident and an honorary member of the Westfield Service League.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, John Mills Wittke, a former Commodore of the Bay Head Yacht Club; a daughter, Gail Houston of Wilmington, Delaware; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 30, at the All Saints Episcopal Church in Bay Head.

Georgiana ‘Jo’ Dobyns, 72, Volunteer; Was Recognized as Community Leader
Georgiana Marie “Jo” Dobyns, 72, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, June 30, at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born January 20, 1927 in Maplewood, she grew up in Irvington and later lived there again for several years before settling in Scotch Plains in 1957.
Mrs. Dobyns studied to be a dental hygienist at theUniversityofMissouri in Kansas City while her husband was attending dental school there. They returned to New Jersey after his graduation and eventually settled in Scotch Plains.
Active with the Fanwood-ScotchPlainsYMCAsince 1968, she was a member of the Board of Directors, the Board of Trustees, and Endowment Committee.
She also served as Vice President of Membership, Board of Directors Secretary, and Chairwoman of the annual spring Sustaining Membership Drives for many years, the Family, Youth and Adult Committee, World Service Committee, Financial Development Committee and the yearly Support Campaign Committee. She was also a division leader in the Building Fund Campaign for the Martine Avenue “Y.”
She was recognized by the YMCA many times for her service, at annual dinners and with special awards. She was a Charter Member, along with her husband, of the organization’s Heritage Club.
As Community Chairwoman for the American Cancer Society Drive in 1965, Mrs. Dobyns organized 500 volunteers into 15 districts with five chairpersons. Her efforts exceeded the campaign goal of $4,600 which had been set by the Scotch Plains Cancer Crusade. She continued to
work for many years afterward on behalf of the Cancer Society.
Mrs. Dobyns was Secretary of the Citizens Advisory Committee. She also worked with the American Red Cross’s blood drives for local needy children; planned fundraisers to benefit those with leukemia, and raised money and organized activities for the“TwoWorldsFoster Home for Children.”
In addition, she and her husband hosted needy children from urban areas for long weekendsattheirhome, and sponsored a French high school student for a year.
Mrs. Dobyns was active with the Scotch Plains Community Fund in various capacities for 20 years.
Shewasalsoa memberofSt.Paul’s Episcopal ChurchinWestfield,where she and her husband taught Sunday school, and was active in the Scotch Plains Republican Party, the Shackamaxon Elementary Parent Teacher Association, the American Field Service Club, the Scotch Plains Women’s Club and the Ladies Golf Associationof theScotchHillsCountry Club. She additionally was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader.
She was recognized in 1971 as a Community Leader of America by the publication of the same name for her long service to the community and state.
Mrs. Dobyns served as Executive Secretary of the New Jersey Academy of General Dentistry, a professional organization co-founded by her husband. Her role included preparing newsletters, and arranging for speakers from throughout the world to come to New Jersey and lecture to the membership.
Mrs. Dobyns took her first paid position when she worked with Fred Chemidlin at Family Investors in Fanwood. She retired two years ago.
Survivingareher husbandof53years, Dr.Richard W.Dobyns;threedaughters, Lynn Takach of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Kathleen Watt of Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania and Susan Barbato of Tarpon Springs, Florida; two sons, Dr. Mark Dobynsof Witchita,KansasandRichard Dobyns, 2nd of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; four sisters, Ann Carrara of New Providence,Marie DudzinskiofMilford,Pennsylvania,Mildred OpryskofTomsRiver and Angela deBerjeois of Berkeley Heights, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at St. Paul’s Church on Saturday, July 3.

Noreen Reedell, 43, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, July 1, in the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.
Born in Jersey City, she had lived in Middlesex, Piscataway and Ohio before moving to Scotch Plains in 1997.
Surviving are her husband, Gary R. Reedell; two sons, Kevin Reedell and Dan Reedell, and a daughter, Katie Reedell.
A Funeral Mass was offered on Tuesday, July 6, in St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.

Gertrude V. Condon, 88, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida died on Tuesday, June 29, in the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida.
Born in West Orange, she had lived in Mountainside before moving to Central Florida in 1978.
Mrs. Condon was a supporter of the Florida Sanctuary Wildlife Hospital.
Surviving are two daughters, Lorraine Grossmueller and Trude Bonas; a son, Raymond Condon; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Naulty, 73, Dean of Admissions At Chatham College in Pennsylvania
Elizabeth Ann Naulty, 73, of Mountainside died on Thursday, June 24, at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, she had lived in Westfield for
30 years before moving to Mountainside 14 years ago.
She earned a bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, Florida, and a master’s degree from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Mrs. Naulty had been the Dean of Admissions at Chatham College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for several years before retiring.
She was a member of the College Woman’sClub ofWestfield,theAuxiliary of Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, and the Foothills Club, also in Mountainside. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Westfield.
Surviving are her husband, Leslie Naulty; a daughter, Sharon Naulty of Manhattan; two sons, Sherburne Naulty of Gillette and Robert Naulty of North Plainfield, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 28, at the First Congregational Church. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.
Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

David Alan Hill, 84, Chemical Engineer At Whitlock Cord Company, Jersey City
David Alan Hill, 84, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, June 30, in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Westfield, he lived in Scotch Plains for the past 30 years.
Mr. Hill had been a chemical engineer with the Whitlock Cord Company of Jersey City before retiring in 1978. He was later self-employed as a fishing equipment supplier until he retired in 1984.
He played the trombone for many years with the Doctors Band of Overlook Hospital.
He was a communicant of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Mr. Hill earned a degree in engineering from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina in 1935.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marjorie Hill, in 1987.
Surviving are his stepson, Gordon Nobbs of New Providence, and several nephews and cousins.
A funeral service was held on Friday,July2,at theGrayFuneralHome, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Ida Younghans, 95, Was Homemaker; Member of Several Women’s Clubs
Ida M. Greer Younghans, 95, of Bricktown died on Saturday, July 3, at the home of her daughter, Lois Cameron, in Plainfield.
Born and raised in Newark, she had lived in Westfield for 25 years and in Mountainside for 27 years before moving to Bricktown in 1987.
Mrs. Younghans was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Women’s Club of Westfield, the Bricktown Women’s Club, the Amity Club of Westfield, and the Watchung Girl Scouts.
She was also a member of the Holy Trinity Parent-Teacher Association inWestfield,the OurLadyofLourdes Rosary Society in Mountainside, and several bridge clubs.
She graduated in 1923 from the Drake School of Business in Newark.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harry T. Younghans; her son, RobertD. Younghans,andtwograndchildren.
Surviving,in additiontoherdaughter, are a son, Paul F. Younghans of Green Brook; two other daughters, ArlineStrube ofClintonandMarilyne Morris of Bricktown; a sister, Marion Kopf of Port Judith, Rhode Island; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was held yesterday, Wednesday, July 7, at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Mountainside. Burial took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Estella Seybold, 103
Estella F. Seybold, 103, of Sewell died on Wednesday, June 30, at the Health Care Center at Washington in Washington Township.
Born in Dayton, Ohio in August of 1895, she moved to Westfield in 1934. She later lived in Scotch Plains from 1955 to 1987, when she relocated to Sewell.
A graduate of Miami University in Ohio, Mrs. Seybold had been a teacher in the Ohio school system before retiring in the 1920s.
She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Plainfield for many years, where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society.
She was predeceased by her husband,Frederick W.Seybold,in1987.
Surviving are her son, Charles Seybold of Sewell; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, July 6, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Gordon Kennedy Reese, 82, of Fanwood died on Sunday, June 27, at Woodlands Genesis ElderCare Center in Plainfield.
Born in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, he lived in Fanwood since 1950.
Mr. Reese was employed in International Marketing with the United States Department in Washington, D.C. before retiring in 1970. He also worked with General Motors, Pfizer and Bon Ami, all of New York.
He was a member of the Westfield Tennis Association.
He graduated from the University of Virginia in 1940.
He served as a Lieutenant with the U.S. Navy before retiring in 1945.
Surviving are his son, Gordon K. Reese, Jr. of Sacramento, California; a daughter, Sally Anderson of West Tisbury, Massachusetts;asister,Anne Taylorof Ridgewoodandthreegrandchildren.
Funeral services were private. Memorial donations may be made to a personal charity.

Louis D. Mecadon, 86, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, July 1, at home.
Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania he had lived in South Orange before settling in Scotch Plains in 1960.
Mr. Mecadon had been a plumber for the maintenance department of Ciba Geigy in Summit for 30 years before retiring in 1978.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hillside and a communicantof St.BartholomewtheApostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Surviving are his wife, Tina Ferri Mecadon; two daughters, Gloria Simons and Jeanette Coan; seven brothers; three sisters; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 3, at the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church.

Dr. Abraham Yablon, 90, of Westfield died on Thursday, July 1, in the Ashbrook Nursing Home in Scotch Plains.
Born in Philadelphia, he had lived in Plainfield before moving to Westfield in 1975.
A dentist for 50 years, Dr. Yablon had maintained a practice in Plainfield before retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the American Dental Association and the New Jersey Dental Society.
Dr. Yablon served as a Post Commander of the Jewish War Veterans
of Plainfield. He graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry.
He served in the United States Army during World War II.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice Yablon; a daughter, Norma Jean Yablon; a son, Melvyn Yablon, and a sister, Anne Jacobson.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, July 6, in the Beth David Cemetery in Kenilworth.
Arrangements were handled by Kreitzman’s Memorial Home in Union.

Luisa Rosado Rivera, 81, of Westfield died on Sunday, July 4, in Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County in Berkeley Heights.
A native of Havana, Cuba, she came to the United States in 1961 and settled in Astoria, Queens. She moved to Westfield in 1988.
Mrs. Rivera had been a secretary for Perry and Koplik and Sons in New York City for eight years before retiring in 1988.
She was predeceased by her husband, Gus Rivera.
Survivingare twosons,GusRivera of Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania and IgnacioRivera ofWestfield,andthree grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered today, Thursday, July 8, at 10 a.m. in St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Queens.

Mrs. Boyle was a bookkeeper for Berse Brothers, a former car dealership in Westfield.
She was an active volunteer in the American Red Cross and transcribed Braille for the group’s Elizabeth Chapter. She was also a member of the Audubon Society.
She graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree. Surviving are a son, Lawrence H. Boyle of Fairfield, Connecticut; two granddaughters and two great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held tomorrow, Friday, July 9, at 11 a.m. at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, Westfield. Interment will be private.
