PAYING RESPECTS…The flag at the Westfield Fire headquarters on North Avenue flew at half-staff on December 9 in memory of the six fire fighters lost in the line of duty in Worcester, Mass. on December 3. While five of the town’s firefighters, Captain James Ryan, Lieutenants Frank Isoldi, Michael Brennan and Peter Klebaur and Firefighter James Ryan, Jr. traveled to Worcester to pay their respects, three firefighters paid tribute to the fallen firefighters at the firestation. Scholar Athlete Of The Month... PAIGE CORBETT, Senior - Tri-Captain of the Field Hockey team. Paige led the team with 12 goals and 14 assists. She has been selected First Team All-Union County, First Team All-Area and was selected as a Regional All-American finalist by the U. S. Field Hockey Association. Corbett is a straight A honor student with a 4.0 average.

OATH OF OFFICE…Police Officer Brandon Lorenz is sworn in last Thursday as the newest member of the Fanwood force. Joining Officer Lorenz, pictured left to right, are: his mother, Mary Lorenz; his girlfriend, Lynn Yotcoski, and Mayor Maryanne S. Connelly, administering the oath of office. Mayor Connelly herself was honored with several presentations that evening as she prepares to leave office at the end of this year.
