KIDS HELPING KIDS... First grade Girl Scout Troop No. 711 of Wilson Elementary School in Westfield recently held a gently used toy drive among the first grade classes to benefit the Rosemary Cuccaro Pediatric Medical Day Care Center in Elizabeth. The center provides a comprehensive program to meet the health, education, and social needs of medically involved and/ or physically challenged children ages three months to three years. Donations will also be distributed by the Visiting Nurses Affiliate, which provides home care and hospice services throughout Union County. WHETHER THE WEATHER WAS ACCURATE Scotch Plains' Brunner Elementary students from Joseph's fifth grade class utilized math and number skills recently when they tracked the weather for three days and compared the actual weather with the online weather forecast Web sites. Brummer's will make sure every child receives a candy cane and the Westfield Downtown Corporation will be supplying cider and donuts.

Cranford's Jumble Store Sets Annual Holiday Sale on Dec. 4
CRANFORD The Jumble Store's annual Holiday Sale will take place on Saturday, December 4, from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. at the store at 110 Walnut Avenue.
This year's theme is "A Holly Jolly Holiday at the Jumble Store." Gifts, decorations and holiday clothing will be featured.
In addition to shopping, there will be face painting, refreshments and raffles for a variety of gifts.
The Jumble Store is a consignment store that carries a large selection of gently used items like children's clothing, women's career wear, maternity wear, jewelry, shoes and housewares.
The Jumble Store is owned and operated by the Junior League of ElizabethPlainfield (JLEP) and all proceeds from the store benefit community service projects.
The JLEP is an organization of women committed to improving their communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers.

Westfield Foundation Manages Various Workshop Scholarships
WESTFIELD The Westfield Foundation recently announced its plan to manage the numerous scholarships offered by the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts (NJWA).
The mission of the NJWA "is to enrich lives by providing opportunities to develop creative talents and encourage a greater understanding of the arts through both instruction and performance." Divisions of the NJWA include The Music Studio, Piano Pals, Fiddlin' Fun, Kids 'n' Arts, Tots 'n' Arts, The Fencing Club, The Drawing Workshop, The Westfield Art Gallery, Summer Band and Orchestra and Westfield Summer Workshop.
The NJWA currently has five scholarships available for students who participate in their programs that have been established by both corporations and families.
The Mark Hardy Memorial Scholarship is offered to a student of the
Westfield Summer Workshop for outstanding performance in musical theatre. The Ruth Sell Memorial Scholarship is available to a Music Studio student who has made significant achievements in instrumental music.
The Edie Cechini Memorial Scholarship is offered to a student with significant ability in the fine arts at the Westfield Summer Workshop. The Sally Judd Memorial Scholarship is offered to a student aged 511 years old with proficiency or potential in vocal or instrumental music, and Ricola USA offers a scholarship to a student highly proficient in the performance of brass instruments.
Anyone wishing to contribute to these scholarship funds should contact the Westfield Foundation. Donations are tax deductible and can be applied to any scholarship that the donor requests.
Mr. Mancuso Again to Head Vocational Schools BOE
SCOTCH PLAINS Charles S. Mancuso has been reelected as President of the Board of Education of the Union County VocationalTechnical Schools in Union County.
It is the 12th time that Mr. Mancuso has been elected to a oneyear term as President. Six of these were consecutive terms.
Gail Iammatteo of Scotch Plains was elected Vice President of the board. Other members include Jane Lorber of Scotch Plains; Robert H. Schmidt of Linden and Dr. Frances Lobman, Union County Superintendent of Schools.
Edward Kologi of Linden was reappointed as Board Attorney and Edward H. Mellage of Elizabeth as Treasurer.
For more than three decades, Mr. Mancuso's efforts on behalf of education
have been recognized on many occasions and in a variety of ways.

Mr. Mancuso is presently Vice President of Statewide Savings Bank, based in Fanwood, and is a Springfield resident.
The Board of Education of the Vocational Schools in Union County governs the operations of the Union County VocationalTechnical Schools and the Union County Magnet High School at 1776 Raritan Road in Scotch Plains.
AUTHOR VISIT Children's author and illustrator Judith Caseley spends time with two young fans during her recent visit to the Westfield Memorial Library. She explained to an audience of both children and adults how she creates her stories.
DOWN ON THE FARM Westfield Cooperative Nursery School students in Cindy Babetski's 4yearold class recently took a science excursion to Hillview Farm in Meyersville. They learned about growing fruits and vegetables, making honey and apple cider. The school is located in the First Congregational Church at 125 Elmer Street in Westfield.
