Westfield Review Announces Spring SAT Prep Schedule

WESTFIELD – Les Jacobsen, Director of Westfield Review, Inc. and a mathematics instructor from Westfield High School, has announced the Spring 2000 Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) preparation schedule.

The program begins in February with three different starting dates. Classes meet either on Wednesdays beginning February 16, Thursdays beginning February 17 or Sundays beginning February 13.

These sections all consist of 24 hours of total instruction in both

verbal and mathematics skills, given over eight sessions meeting for three hours each. The cost for the program is $359, which includes a text entitled “10 Real SATs” published by the College Board and containing 10 real SATs administered in the past few years.

This program is designed for high school juniors to prepare them for the April, May and June SAT tests.

Westfield Review, Inc. offers a comprehensive SAT and PSAT preparatory program emphasizing the strategies and techniques needed for SAT success. Each class is taught by certified and experienced teachers in their subject area and who are currently teaching at Westfield High School.

The instructors have created their own unique program and materials in order to help their students prepare for the SATs, according to Mr. Jacobsen. Students are encouraged to ask questions and techniques and strategies are discussed in a relaxed environment, he said.

Instruction techniques vary from class lecture to individual work to a teacher and students working in small groups. Students practice their techniques on actual SAT exams that are published by the College Board, which makes up the SAT tests.

This familiarizes the student with the actual type of test questions and gives them a true sense of the SAT that they are going to take, Mr. Jacobsen observed.

Classes are small and seats are limited. All classes meet at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield. Individuals are urged to reserve a seat as soon as possible. To reserve a spot or for further information and a registration form for the program, please call (908) 3172774.
