Blake Doyle Completes Basic Navy Training

WESTFIELD — Navy Seaman Blake C. Doyle, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Geoffrey N. Doyle of Westfield, recently completed United States Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Seaman Doyle completed a variety of training programs which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, fire fighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis is also placed on physical fitness.

He also received instruction on the Navy’s core values – honor, courage and commitment — and how to apply them in their military performance and personal conduct. Seaman Doyle joins 55,000 men and women who will enter the United States Navy this year from all over the country.

To reinforce the team concept, Seaman Doyle and other recruits also were trained in preventing sexual harassment and ensuring equal opportunity.

He is a 1990 graduate of Westfield High School and a 1993 graduate of Union County College in Cranford, where he received an Associate Degree.
