CYAN YELLOW MAGENTA BLACK runs so the Pats added two more runs

in the fifth to take a 9-1 lead. Petrucho yanked a single over third and DiDonato ripped a single to left. Williams lofted an RBI sacrifice fly to right and Mike Camfield followed with an RBI single past third.

St. Jude sprinkled the air with singles from Steve Ferro and Pirella but was unable to score in the sixth. St. Patrick poured on the power in the bottom of the inning and scored five runs.

It appeared, however, that St. Patrick would go down in order when the first two batters made outs but Mike Michalisin poked a single to right, Gary Cardinale hooked a single to left and Vastano squeezed a single

by the shortstop. Baum dug in at the plate then smashed a shot over the center fielder’s head, resulting in a grand slam. Guy banged a single to left then sped to second on an error. Petrucho brought Guy home with his single over third.

Possessing the quality of a firstplace team, St. Jude refused to cede victory until the final man was out. Tony Perfilio dribbled a single to third and Mark Romaine looped a single over the second baseman’s head, but Vastano, the St. Patrick pitcher, grabbed a grounder and tossed it to first for the final out.

ning with minimal damage. The Mattress Factory threatened in the seventh with a walk by Tim Walsh and a single from Manzi but a slick relay to third from right field nailed Walsh as he slid into the bag. Zippler also followed with a single but a fly out to left stopped the threat.
