Miss Jacqueline Rankin To Wed Marc Koslowsky

Robert James and Bertha Elisa Rankin of Westfield have announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Jacqueline E. Rankin, to Marc Koslowsky of Westfield. He is the son of Seymour and Susan Koslowsky.

ange. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in early childhood education.

Her fiancé, also a graduate of Westfield High School, earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Middlebury College in Vermont. He is presently taking pre-requisites for entrance into dental school.

The couple plan to be married next month.

Virginia Page Welcomed By Peterson Family

Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Peterson have announced the arrival of their daughter, Virginia Page Peterson.

Born in Taegu, Korea on Thursday, June 25, 1998, Virginia joined her parents and brother, Luke, on Friday, March 19.

Virginia’s mother is the former Miss Betsy R. Pritchett, who graduated with the Class of 1974 at Westfield High School.

Her father graduated from Westfield High School with the Class of 1972.

Virginia’s maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Page Pritchett of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Her paternal grandparents are Mrs. Virginia R. Peterson of Hope and the late Albert E. Peterson, Jr.

The baby’s maternal great-grandmother is Beulah G. Pritchett of Maplewood.

Daniel James Born to Brookses

Daniel and Jennifer L. Brooks of Hackettstown have announced the birth of their son, Daniel James, on Tuesday, April 6, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Denville.

Daniel weighed 8 pounds and 14 ounces at birth.

The mother is the former Miss Jennifer Martin.

Daniel’s maternal grandmother is June Martin of Union.

His paternal grandmother is Margaret Healey of Independence.

Bush Family Welcomes Andrew David

Heidi and Tony Bush of Yardley, Pennsylvania have announced the birth of their son, Andrew David Bush, on Monday, March 29.

Andrew joins his brother, Zachary, 2¼.

His father is a 1982 graduate of Westfield High School. An alumnus of Syracuse University and its law school, Mr. Bush practices law in Trenton.

Andrew’s maternal grandparents are Robbie and Jerry Schachter of Philadelphia.

His paternal grandparents are Annette and Martin Radley of Westfield.

The baby’s maternal great-grandmother is Mollie Lewin.

His paternal great-grandfather is Albert Philipp of Forest Hills, New York.

Achievement Scholarship Winners Announced

SCOTCH PLAINS – The National Achievement Scholarship Program has announced the names of its Achievement Scholarship competition.

Students named are among more than 700 outstanding black American high school seniors of 1999. These Achievement Scholars will begin undergraduate study in the fall at colleges and universities throughout the country.

Locally, Celeste J. Coleman of Scotch Plains received an Honorary Achievement Scholarship. She is a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. Her career field is chemical engineering.

Tara L. Mc Call of Scotch Plains has received a $2,000 National Achievement Scholarship. She is a graduate of Gill Saint Bernard’s School in Gladstone.

HONOR SOCIETY ELECTEE… Natasha Vasavada of Scotch Plains has been elected to Phi Beta Kappa, the national academic honor society. She is a senior at Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. She is the daughter of Drs. Balendu and Maria Vasavada. She is a graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. She has also been elected to the Omicron Delta Kappa national honorary leadership society. Natasha is a double major in history and German. She plans to pursue teaching in America and Germany. To Dean’s List At Drew University

Bryan John Schnedeker of Fanwood, Kiran Prabhaker Rao, Magaly Gesualdo Roig, Christine Cecilia Swenson, Elizabeth Ann Van Iperen, all of Westfield, and Kimberly R. Giordano, of Mountainside, have earned Dean’s List status for the Fall 1998 Term at Drew University in Madison.

These students have earned a minimum of 3.4 grade point average which is equivalent to or better than a B+ on a scale in which A is a 4.0.

Area Students Earn Honor Roll Status At St. Peter’s Prep

St. Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City recently recognized the following area students who were named to the second marking period Honor Roll.

Charles Maffey of Westfield achieved First Honors.

Christopher Delaney of Scotch Plains and Joseph Serzan of Westfield earned Second Honors.

Theodore Schundler of Westfield earned Honors.

Kristin Polito Earns Dean’s List Status At NJ City University

SCOTCH PLAINS – Kristin Polito of Scotch Plains has achieved Dean’s List honors for the 1998 Fall Semester at New Jersey City University in Jersey City.

Students on the Dean’s List must earn an average of 3.5 or higher to qualify.

Westfield Students Named to Dean’s List

At Bates College

WESTFIELD – Bradford T. Ainslie and Courtney D. Ill of Westfield have earned Dean’s List status during the first semester of the 1998-1999 academic year at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.

To qualify, a student must maintain a better than B average for the semester for a minimum quality point ratio of 3.2.

Bradford is a junior economics major. He is the son of Dr. William and Marilyn Ainslie of Westfield. He is currently studying abroad in Australia. He is a 1996 graduate of the Morristown Beard School.

Courtney, a sophomore sociology major, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ill of Westfield. She is a 1997 graduate of Westfield High School.

Shannon D. Reilly Named to Dean’s List

At Albright College

WESTFIELD – Shannon D. Reilly of Westfield, a senior Spanish major, has been named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement during the 1998-1999 Fall Semester at Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania.

Shannon is a graduate of Westfield High School. She is the daughter of Ms. Pamela Shewitz of Westfield.

Bryce C. Ross Earns Dean Honor Roll Status

WESTFIELD – Bryce C. Ross of Westfield has been named to the Dean’s Honor Roll for the Fall 1998 semester at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan.

To be named to the honor roll, a student must maintain at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term and be a full-time student.

Jill Goldberger Earns Dean’s List Honors

At Ithaca College

WESTFIELD – Jill Goldberger of Westfield has been named to the Fall 1998 Dean’s List at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York.

Jill is an acting major. She is a member of the Class of 1999.

To qualify, students must earn a 3.7/3.5 grade point average for the School of Business; a 3.7 grade point average at the School of Communications; a 3.5 grade point average for the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance; a 3.5/3.3 grade point average for the School of Humanities and Science; or a 3.7/3.5 grade point average for the School of Music.

Andrew W. Zachar, Jr. Named to Dean’s List At Furman University

WESTFIELD – Andrew W. Zachar, Jr. of Westfield has been named to the Dean’s List for the Winter 1999 term at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina.

Andrew is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew W. Zachar, Sr., of Westfield.

To qualify, a student must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher on a four point system. The list is compiled at the end of each of Furman’s three terms.

Local Residents Earn Dean’s List Status At Rider University

WESTFIELD – Dana Clark, and Jennifer Hostettler, both of Westfield, have been named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 1998 Semester at Rider University in Lawrenceville.

Dana is a Sociology major. Jennifer is a Journalism major.

Mary L. Sprowls-Kaadi To Serve On Committee

At Susquehanna Univ.

SCOTCH PLAINS – Mary L. Sprowls-Kaadi of Scotch Plains was recently named by Susquehanna University to serve as a member of the New York City and Long Island Area Leadership Development Committee.

The Committee helps to shape the future of the University and includes parents, alumni and friends to Susquehanna, which is in Selingsgrove, Pennsylvania.

Residents Achieve Dean’s List Status At Johnson & Wales

Lesley Halas of Fanwood and Marc Phillips of Westfield have been named to the Dean’s List for the winter term at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

Lesley is currently majoring in Hotel-Restaurant Management. Marc is majoring in Food Service Management.

To receive Dean’s List commendation, students must earn a cumulative grade point average of 3.40 or above.

Matthew Hanas Named To Dean’s List At Fairleigh Dickinson

WESTFIELD – Matthew Hanas of Westfield has been named to the Dean’s List at Fairleigh Dickinson University for the Fall 1998 Semester.

Matthew is currently majoring in mathematics with a concentration in secondary education.

Colleen Gleason Attains Dean’s List Status At Marist College

WESTFIELD – Colleen Gleason of Westfield was awarded second honors on the Dean’s List for the Fall 1998 semester at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.

Colleen is a senior. She is the daughter of June and Hugh Gleason of Westfield.

Jodi Bertelson Achieves Dean’s List Honors At Dickinson College

WESTFIELD – Jodi Bertelson of Westfield has been named to the Dean’s List for the 1998 Fall Semester at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

All students earning a position on the Dean’s List must have a grade point average of 3.7 or above for the semester on a 4.0 scale.

Jodi is a senior. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bertelson of Westfield. She is a graduate of Westfield High School.

Her career field is Psychology. Corporate sponsors included Pharmacia & Upjohn Foundation in Bridgewater and Warner-Lambert Company in Parsippany.
