Laird S. Royer, 82, of Scotch Plains died Thursday, October 15, at Atlantic City Medical Center-Mainland Division in Galloway.
He was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Royer worked for Royers Automotive Services in Atlantic City from 1923 to 1963.
He was a member of the Inlet Social Club in Atlantic City.
Surviving are his brother, Ralph M. Royer of Galloway and a sister, Hilda Martin of Brigantine.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 18, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home in Northfield. Interment was at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Pemberton.

Anthony Huzar, 78
Anthony Huzar, 78, of Westfield died Thursday, October 15, in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Westfield for 40 years.
Mr. Huzar was a purchasing agent with the Western Electric Corporation in Kearny, Newark and Union for 43 years before retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America of Western Electric.
Surviving are his wife, Antoinette Huzar; two daughters, Carol Ann Negri and Patricia Ferrell, and three grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, October 19, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains.
Arrangements were handled by the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.

Sara Giambalvo, 74
Sara Paretsky Giambalvo, 74, of Toms River died on Wednesday, October 14, at home.
Born in Poland, she had come to the United States in 1929 and had lived in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn for 40 years before moving to Toms River 11 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Vito Giambalvo; a son, Santo Giambalvo of Staten Island; a daughter, Linda Attanasio of Westfield; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy took place on Friday, October 16, at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Interment was held at St. Charles Cemetery in Farmingdale, Long Island.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Emma M. Isles, 97
Emma Madelaine Isles, 97, of Winchester, Massachusetts, formerly of Westfield, died on Wednesday, October 14.
Born on January 20, 1901 in Mollis, Canton Glarus, Switzerland, Mrs. Isles was the eleventh and youngest child of William and Margaret Weber.
She emigrated to the United States in 1919, and had lived in Cranford and Westfield before moving to Massachusetts in 1984.
Mrs. Isles studied nursing at the Flower Hospital in New York City and became a registered nurse in 1924.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick W. Isles, in 1970. The couple had married in 1925.
Surviving are three sons, Robert Isles of Plainfield, Ted Isles of Framingham, Massachusetts, and David Isles of Cambridge, Massachusetts; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Watertown, Massachusetts, will be scheduled at a later date.
Arrangements were handled by the Keefe Funeral Homes in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Leokadia Anaczkowski
Leokadia Anaczkowski, 77, of Fanwood died Saturday, October 17, at home.
Born in Lasek, Poland, she had lived in Irvington before moving to Fanwood in 1982.
Mrs. Anaczkowski had worked for New Jersey Bell in Newark for 31 years prior to retiring in 1985.
Surviving are her husband, Jozef Anaczkowski; two sons, Eugene Anaczkowski and Ignatius Anaczkowski; a daughter, Christina Gonnella; three sisters, Stanislawa Kwiatkowski, Regina Kot and Josefa Margiel; three brothers, Stanislow Snoch and Ignac Snock and Wladyslaw Giemza, and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered yesterday, Wednesday, October 21, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Irvington. Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Raymond Moore, 73, of Point Pleasant died Saturday, October 17, in the Department of Veterans Affairs New Jersey Health Care Center at East Orange.
Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, he had lived in Hillside and Scotch Plains before moving to Point Pleasant Beach 18 years ago.
He served in the United States Army during World War II as a medic.
He was a graduate of Seton Hall University and the Newark College
of Engineering. Mr. Moore was a sales manager with the Harrison Supply Company in East Newark for over 36 years.
He was a Republican and served as a Union County Freeholder from 1959 until 1965. He was a coroner’s assistant with the Union County Medical Examiners Office from 1960 to 1980.
Mr. Moore was a 32nd degree mason of the Masonic Lodge Sekorkis, a Shriner and a member of the Republican Club of Point Pleasant Beach.
A Funeral Service was held yesterday, Wednesday, October 21, in the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.

Joseph P. Hagen, 79, of Whiting died Saturday, October 17, at Bayview Convalescent Center in Bayville.
Born in Newark, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Crestwood Village in Whiting in 1977.
Mr. Hagen was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a sales engineer for Pennsylvania Steel Foundry and Machine Company in Hamburg, Pennsylvania for 35 years before retiring in 1982.
He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Hagen, in 1984.
Surviving are a brother, Thomas Hagen of Houston, Texas; a sister, Helen Smith of Brick and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were handled by the Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home in Whiting.

Albert Fetzer, Jr., Was Army Lieutenant; Retired Executive With Truck Company
Alfred C. Ravenell, 57
Alfred C. Ravenell, 57, of Westfield died on Tuesday, October 13, at home.
Born in Summerville, South Carolina, he had lived in Rahway before moving to Westfield 28 years ago.
Mr. Ravenell was Maintenance Director of the Westfield YMCA for 23 years.
A United States Army veteran, he served in the Vietnam War.
Surviving are a daughter, Celena Lampkin, and a brother, Malcolm Ravenell.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 17, at the Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church in Rahway.
Arrangements were handled by the Jones Funeral Home in Rahway.

Doris Botwinick, 72, of Cranbury died Sunday, October 18, in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Newark, she had lived in Kearny and Westfield before moving to Cranbury in 1995.
Mrs. Botwinick had earned a bachelor of arts degree from Kean College in 1963. She taught history and philosophy at Jonathan Dayton Regional High School in Springfield in the 1960s.
She was the Past President of the Riker Hill Artists Community in Essex County. She also served as Vice President of the Sculptor Society of New Jersey and was a member of the Princeton Art Association.
Her work of stone and oil paintings has been shown at Knickerbocker Club, Lever House, Salmagundi Club, Gallery 84 and the Phoenix Gallery, all of New York City.
Other showings of her work included the Morris Museum, the New Jersey Institute of Technology, Schering-Plough corporate headquarters, the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts, Arts Judaica in Plainfield, the Livingston Public Library and the New Jersey School of Visual Arts, all of New Jersey.
She received critical acclaim for her sculptures in The Star-Ledger, Artspeak and the New York Times
publications. She won many awards in shows throughout the metropolitan area.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, George Botwinick; two sons, Howard Botwinick of Ithaca, New York and Philip Botwinick of Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Geri Botwinick of Maplewood; two sisters, Shirley Schwartz of Watchung and Phyllis Slavin of Cliffside Park and four grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, October 20, in the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

Albert C. Fetzer, Jr., 81, of Scotch Plains died on Wednesday, October 14, in Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Bayonne on December 18, 1916, the son of the late Albert C. and Harriet Payne Fetzer, he had lived in Westfield before moving to Scotch Plains.
Mr. Fetzer retired in 1973 as Vice President of Sales for Paterson Mack
Trucks in Paterson, where he had worked for more than 45 years.
He served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II.
Surviving are a son, Alan C. Fetzer of Eugene, Oregon; a daughter, Diane F. Novello of Scotch Plains; a brother, William Fetzer of Ramsey, and four grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 18. Arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Florence Moscetti, 82
Florence Santo Salvo Moscetti, 82, of Middlesex died on Sunday, October 18, at her son’s home in Raritan Borough.
Born in Scotch Plains, she had lived in Middlesex since 1945.
She was a homemaker. Mrs. Moscetti was a member of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Roman Catholic Church in Middlesex.
She was predeceased by her brother, Nicholas Santo Salvo, and three sisters, Laura Tullo, Elizabeth Pietro Paolo and Edith Grausso.
Surviving are her husband, Louis N. Moscetti, Sr.; a son, Louis N. Moscetti, Jr. of Raritan Borough; three daughters, Rita Bahooshian of Bridgewater, and Lois Santillo and Joyce Fitzgerald, both of Middlesex; two brothers, Wilbur Santo Salvo and Anthony Santo Salvo; four sisters, Victoria Caruso, Marie Haller, Gloria Geschwindner and Jean Serina, and seven grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass was offered yesterday, Wednesday, October 21, at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church. Arrangements were handled by the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains.

Robert Oppmann, Jr.
Robert W. Oppmann, Jr., 32, of South Plainfield died on Sunday, October 18, in the Somerset Medical Center in Somerville.
Born in Elizabeth, he had lived in Fanwood before moving to South Plainfield two years ago.
Mr. Oppmann was an automobile mechanic for Brian’s Auto in Garwood for more than two years. Prior to that, he had worked in the same capacity for Sevell’s Auto in Westfield for eight years.
Surviving is his wife, Cynthia Oppmann.
A Funeral Mass will be offered today, Thursday, October 22, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Garwood.
Arrangements are being handled by the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.

Born in Queens, New York, she had lived in Hackensack before moving to Mountainside 11 years ago.
Surviving are her husband, Arthur Couse; her mother, Renee Cymes, and a sister, Meryl Wieder.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, October 22, at 11:15 a.m. in Beth El Cemetery in Emerson.

Joseph A. Kolibas, 77, Army Veteran; Was Machinist at Singer for 41 Years
Joseph A. Kolibas, 77, of Westfield died on Friday, October 16, at the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield.
Born in Czechoslovakia, he had come to the United States in 1937 and settled in Elizabethport. He had
lived in Jersey City and later in Roselle Park for 15 years before moving to Westfield 35 years ago.
Mr. Kolibas was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy, Southern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe.
He had been a machinist for 41 years at the Singer Manufacturing Company in Elizabeth prior to retiring in 1992.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Margaret Balas Kolibas; a daughter, Lorraine Kolibas of Plainfield; three sons, Ron Kolibas of Middlesex Borough, Alan Kolibas of Garwood and Robert Kolibas of Westfield, and five grandchildren.
A Funeral Liturgy took place on Tuesday, October 20, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Interment was held at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Funeral Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

George L. Voget, 50, Sales Director; SP-FHS Alumnus Coached Athletics
George L. Voget, 50, of Clinton Township died on Thursday, September 24, in Easton Hospital in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Born in Irvington, he had lived in Scotch Plains before moving to Clinton Township.
He attended Scotch PlainsFanwood High School, where he was a quarterback on the football team, and graduated from Rutgers University in New Brunswick in 1969 with a bachelor’s degree in business.
He was employed as a Director of Sales for Victaulic in Easton, Pennsylvania, where he had worked for 24 years.
Mr. Voget was a United States Army veteran.
He was a member of the American Legion of Scotch Plains and was an artillery instructor at West Point. He
also coached community athletics in Clinton Township, including girls’ softball, soccer and basketball, and played in local softball leagues.
He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Donohue Voget.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Evelyn C. Coe Voget; a daughter, Kristen Voget of Clinton Township; his father, George R. Voget; a brother, Michael Voget, and a sister, Mary Ellen Miller.
Funeral services were held on Monday, September 28, at the Martin Funeral Home in Clinton. Interment followed at Locust Grove Cemetery in Quakertown.

C. Maynard Turner, 98
C. Maynard Turner, 98, of Green Valley, Arizona died on Thursday, October 15.
Born in Chicago, he had lived in Westfield and in Western North Carolina before moving to Green Valley in 1995.
Mr. Turner graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle.
He had worked for EBASCO Services in New York City from 1930 to 1950, and later joined the Cincinnati Gas & Electric Company. He retired in 1965.
He was a Deacon and Elder of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield.
Surviving are a daughter, Annette Marsland of Raleigh, North Carolina; a son, David M. Turner of Huntington Beach, California; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Private services at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield were arranged through the Green Valley Mortuary and Memorial Gardens.
Memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or to Junior Achievement.

Natalie S. Smith, Founder and President Of Insurance Agency in Westfield
Natalie Sidman Smith of Stanton died on Friday, October 16, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Flemington.
Born in Montclair on August 13, 1907, she had lived in Westfield from 1947 to 1973 before moving to Stanton 25 years ago.
Mrs. Smith graduated in 1929 from Sweet Briar College in Sweet Briar, Virginia with a degree in biology.
She had been founder and President of the Lee Smith Insurance Agency in Westfield, retiring in 1975.
She was a Past President of the Westfield College Women’s Club, and was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Stanton Reformed Church, the Stanton Holly Trail, the South Branch Watershed,
and the Stanton Rug Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert L. Smith, Jr., in 1978 and by a son, Herbert L. Smith, 3rd, in 1961.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda S. Stedman of Stanton; a son, Gordon G. Smith of Ringoes; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24, at 2 p.m. at the Stanton Church. Interment will be in Mahwah at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled by the Rogers Funeral Home in Trenton.

John T. Heitman, 63
John Thomas Heitman, 63, of Lexington, North Carolina, formerly of Westfield, died on Wednesday, October 14, at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.
He was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 2, 1935, the son of Felix Hughes and Fredrika Potter Heitman.
Mr. Heitman had worked for the Keebler Cracker Company before retiring, and was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church.
He served in the United States Marine Corp.
Surviving are two sons, Kurt Heitman of Fountain, Colorado and John Heitman of Lompoc, California; a daughter, Kelly Heitman of San Diego, California; a sister, Gretchen Wagner of Glen Gardner, and four grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 20, at St. Peter Episcopal Church in Washington.
Arrangements were handled by the Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.

Mark T. Jenkins, 35
Mark T. Jenkins, 35, a lifelong resident of Westfield, died on Monday, October 19, at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Mr. Jenkins became a corrections officer in 1990 and had worked at the Union County Jail in Elizabeth.
He was predeceased by his father, Gary Jenkins.
Surviving are his mother, Joyce Pretlow of Westfield; a brother, Brandon Pretlow of Westfield, and two sisters, Tracey Sey of Somerset and Shonda Jenkins of Plainfield.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow, Friday, October 23, at the Bethel Baptist Church in Westfield. Visitation is from 2 to 9 p.m. today, Thursday, October 22, at the Plinton Curry Funeral Home in Westfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Union County Chapter of the Leukemia Society of America in Elizabeth.

Mr. and Mrs. Vito Frisco, Both 78; Co-Owners of Newark Luncheonette
Vito Frisco, 78, died Sunday, October 18, in Overlook Hospital in Summit, and his wife, Mary Frisco, also 78, died Friday, October 16, in the Manor Care Health Center in Mountainside.
Mrs. Frisco was born in Elizabeth, and Mr. Frisco was born in Newark. After marrying, the couple had lived in Newark and moved to Mountainside 20 years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Frisco had been coowners of the Frisco Luncheonette in the Ironbound Section of Newark for 30 years prior to retiring 13 years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Roseanne Giordano, and two grandchildren. Mrs. Frisco is also survived by a brother, Frank Marino, and three sisters, Lena Saluccio, Grace Citarella and Helen
Hoydich. A Funeral Mass for the couple will be offered tomorrow, Friday, October 23, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Mountainside, following the funeral from the Galante Funeral Home in Union.
