Westfield High School Announces Third Marking Period Honor Roll
Dr. Robert Petix, Principal of Westfield High School, recently announced the names of the honor roll students for the third marking period of the 1997- 1998 school year. There are 513 students who achieved Distinguished Honor Roll or Honor Roll status.
To be included in the Distinguished Honor group, a student must obtain a grade of "A" in all of his or her major academic subjects and no grade below "B" in any minor subject.
To be enrolled in the Honor Roll group a student must obtain grades of "A" or "B" in all subjects, major or minor.
In the ninth grade, 36 students, or 10.79 percent of the 334- member class, were named to the Distinguished Honor Roll.
Honor Roll status was achieved by 113 ninth graders, or 33.83 percent of the class.
Among 10th graders, Distinguished Honor Roll status was achieved by 17 students, or 5.21 percent of the 326- member class.
Named to the Honor Roll were 88 students, or 27 percent of the class.
Selected for the Distinguished Honor Roll among 11th graders were 13 students, or 4.45 percent of the 292- member class.
Named to the Honor Roll were 111 students, or 38.01 percent of the class.
Among 12th graders, 16 students, or 5.21 percent of the 307- member class, were named to the Distinguished Honor Roll.
Earning selection for the Honor Roll were 119 students, or 38.76 percent of the class.

Wardlaw- Hartridge School Sets Golf and Tennis Outing
The Wardlaw- Hartridge School in Edison will conduct its first golf and tennis outing on Monday, July 27, at the Plainfield Country Club. It will serve as a fundraiser for the school's new gymnasium and locker room.
The gymnasium will be used by students in the lower and middle schools and will include full- size basketball and volleyball courts.

A member of the National Association of Independent Schools and the New Jersey Association of Independent Schools, Wardlaw- Hartridge serves more than 50 communities in central New Jersey and welcomes students of all races, religions, and national backgrounds.
Westfield 'Y' Offers Teen Express Program
The Westfield "Y" 's Teen Express program is set to begin, with an array of daily and week- long excursions planned for adolescents between the ages of 11 and 15.
Teen Express offers nine weeks of travel to over 30 destinations in more than eight states.
In addition to the beach trips and visits to amusement parks and sporting events, this year's Teen Express itinerary includes a day at the 1998 Goodwill Games, a Broadway show and expanded trips to the SplatterPaintball.
Two week- long treks, one north and one south, will take participants to Niagra Falls, Boston Commons and the Rhode Island shore, as well as the Baltimore Harbor, Virginia Beach and Kings Dominion.
International travel is also an option, with a chance to attend the last World's Fair of this century in Lisbon, Portugal.
This trip will also give youngsters the opportunity to interact with other YMCA youth from around the world, and the chance to experience some of the history and culture of Portugal.

Irritable Bowel Group Will Meet Tomorrow
The monthly meeting of the support group for individuals with Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) will take place tomorrow, Friday, June 5, from 7 to 8 p. m. at Overlook Hospital, Conference Room 1, in Summit.
There will be a discussion, and current information on IBS will be available.
The group is free and open to anyone concerned with the problems of IBS. Parking in the Overlook Hospital garage is also free for those attending the meeting.
