Motophoto Announces Kids Portrait Contest

Westfield MotoPhoto and Portrait Studio has announced that a children’s portrait contest is now underway at the business’s new location at 251 North Avenue, next to the train station.

Tot Shots, a national children’s portrait contest sponsored by MotoPhoto, has a grand prize of a deluxe Hollywood vacation for four.

Local winners will receive prizes donated by the Westfield MotoPhoto and Portrait Studio, including a $500 savings bond as a grand prize and six $50 savings bonds, as well as a twopack of 20th Century Fox videos.

Every entrant will receive a free 5 x 7 entry portrait, taken by MotoPhoto’s award-winning photographer, along with coupons for free French fries from McDonald’s on North Avenue in Garwood, or a free ice cream cone.

Local judging will take place in early September by a panel comprised of Westfield Mayor Thomas C. Jardim, Connie O’Dell, Principal of Washington Elementary School, and Dr. Andrew Perry, Principal of Wilson Elementary School, both in Westfield.

Parents interested in entering their child in the MotoPhoto Tot Shots contest may call MotoPhoto and Portrait Studio at (908) 654-3333 to arrange for a free session and 5 x 7 entry portrait.

To be eligible, children must be seven years of age or younger. Winners will be notified.

School Supplies Sought By Realtors Association

New and gently used school supplies are being collected by the Community Service Committee of the Greater Union County Association of Realtors for distribution to the homeless or those in need. The drive extends through Friday, August 21.

Sought for the collection are all manner of writing implements (pencils, pens, markers, crayons), rulers, scissors, glue sticks, tape and erasers. Also included could be loose leaf paper, folders, binders, zipper pouches and book bags.

This is the first year the Community Service Committee has initiated this particular project, hoping that many donations will be received from people who find they have collected or purchased more of these items than they can use in their normal routine.

Recipients of the articles are to be St. Joseph’s homeless program in Elizabeth, the Plainfield Area “Y” for the homeless, the Interfaith Council and other local community programs assisting the less fortunate.

The Greater Union County Association of Realtors just recently completed a successful drive for tired towels, toiletries and linens.

All items may be brought to the Realtor Association office at 767 Central Avenue, Westfield, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and questions may be directed to them at (908) 232-9000.
