scotch plains nj Fall opening day, Tuesday, September 9, at The Thrift Shop in Scotch Plains will disclose shopping surprises in all its departments. The shop has been refurbished and new racks have been installed to make shopping easier. The volunteers have re-stocked the store with special items of clothing and housewares, all of which were received through donations from the public. The baby and toddler clothes section has been made more accessible to shoppers. Donations of maternity clothes in fine condition are always welcomed by the Thrift Shop, said spokeswoman Dorothy Bandola. Receipts of ladies clothes include classic suits, dresses, coordinates, slacks, tops, sweaters, shoes, scarves, accessories and costume jewelry. Sizes range from small to womens sizes. The separate Designers Corner includes an unexpected donation of clothes from Donna Karan, Ellen Tracey, Anne Klein and others, according to Ms. Bandola. Mens fall clothes include suits, jackets, shirts, pants, sweaters and work clothes. Boys school clothes feature jackets and pants. Donations of antiques, and collectibles of all kinds have increased this year. These items are stored in a separate cabinet. Fall household items, drapes, curtains, sheets and decorative bric-a-brac are featured, as well. The Thrift Shop, located at 1730 East Second Street, is open for sales Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Donations of winter clothes, household items, etc. are accepted from 10 a.m. to noon on the days the store is open. |
