Candidate Bio and Statement: http://lance.house.gov/ I believe in conservative fiscal principles of lower taxes and less government spending and a belief that individuals are better off when government is making fewer rather than more decisions for them. Congress is broken and the Democratic majorities in Washington have deliberately engaged in gridlock. We need to bring about fundamental change by building on the core Republican principles of fiscal responsibility and ethical integrity. Provide Quality Accessible Healthcare: favors common-sense health care reforms, opposes the Pelosi health care bill because it raises individual and business taxes, reduces funding for Medicare, and costs over $1.055 trillion. Create Jobs and Strengthen our Economy: opposed to tax increases and will work to repeal the Death Tax permanently and to eliminate the Alternative Minimum Tax. Fight for Debt Reduction: He favors a Balanced Budget Amendment. Protect Social Security and Medicare: he will fight to stop Congress from raiding Social Security and Medicare funds." Congressman Leonard Lance was elected to the United States House of Representatives in November 2008 to New Jersey's Seventh Congressional District. Congressman Lance serves on the House Financial Committee. Leonard born raised in Hunterdon County, where he attended public schools. Hc holds a bachelorís degree from Lehigh University, Phi Beta Kappa; a law degree from Vanderbilt University; and a master's degree from Princeton University. He was ass assistant counsel for county and municipal matters to Governor Thomas H. Kean from 1983 to 1990. Leonard is married to Heidi A. Rohrbach.
