Candidate Bio and Statement: www.ucnj.org/ctyclerk I have had the honor to serve as your County Clerk during the past 15 years. My education includes a BA, cum laude from Case Western Reserve University and a Masters in Public Administration from Seton Hall University.I chose public service as my lifelong career to contribute to my community as a school board member, councilwoman, mayor, freeholder and as register of Deeds and Mortgages, an office I succeeded in combining with the Clerks and which saved taxpayers more than $1 million. I have also served as President of the Constitutional Officers Association of NJ and as President of the New Jersey Association of Counties. Some innovative actions I've taken as County Clerk include the following: *pioneering on-line access to property documents; *generated $23 million in revenues to offset county tax rate in 2009; *establishing a duplicate computer service to be used in event of a man made or natural disaster protecting the economic integrity of business in the county; *initiating unprecedented customer access through Saturday and evening hours for passports, trade names and notaries in our Westfield office; *discovered discrepencies in 2008 Presidential Primary machine tally and led the state in challenging the voting machine company for their errors; testified in court case and secured safety measures on machines. Some of my future goals include the following: *expand technology to permit electronic signatures for all property recordings; *make more services and documents accessible on-line; *develop new ways to deliver services to customers; *expand outreach services especially passports which will be of critical importance with new Homeland Security regs. The public trust of the County Clerk's position demands integrity, experience, leadership and creativity. The reality is it would be difficult to find a Clerk's Office of comparable size in the state which is as cost-efficient, an innovative or customer friendly. I pledge to continue to bring my experience and professionalism to serve you for another term. Thanks for your past support and I ask for your vote on November 2nd.
