Candidate Bio and Statement: http://unioncountygopcandidates.com/ I would like to introduce myself. I am Art Zapolski and I am running for Union County Clerk as a Republican. My wife and I have lived and worked in Linden since 1992 and we have been married for 27 years. The Clerk's office touches everyone in the county who votes or owns a home. Job one for me will be the timely and accurate recording of real estate transactions and monitoring the county's election process. This requires attention to detail and acute organizational skills. I believe I am well suited for this task. For the last 30 years I have been a lawyer working in private practice and in government. I also come from the outside the current administration. For the past 10 years I have had a neighborhood law practice in Linden. I am also a former Roselle Park Public Defender. A year ago I retired from the Air Force Reserves as a colonel. I have a Masters of Law degree and taught a law course as an adjunct college professor. One of my strengths is that I can work with all types of people across the board to solve problems. I worked in the Texas House of Representative for a Democrat from Dallas coordinating his legislative package. I am also active in the community. I am a member of the Union County College Paralegal Studies Program Advisory Committee and I am a former president of Linden Rotary Club. I understand the importance of continuing upgrade and modernize out county's record keeping to keep pace the 21st Century. One of my priorities as County Clerk will be to continue to work on the computerization of our records for easy access of the public. I will work hard for you by drawing on my experience and provide a fresh new voice for Union County.
