CROSS-TOWN MATCHUP...This Saturday, starting at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth’s
Williams Field, Westfield (WHS) and Scotch Plains-Fanwood (SP-F) High School baseball teams will meet in the championship game of the Union
County Tournament. Amazingly, WHS and SP-F have only met seven previous times in the 55 years of the county tournament; WHS winning in 1955, ’68,
’77, ’83 and ’87, and SP-F coming out on top in 1976 and 2000. But none of
those games were in the final.

WALK A MILE IN THEIR SHOES...Participants in the 25th Relay for Life
prepare to walk last Friday in the annual event at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. People walk for 12 hours – from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. – and walkers
receive pledges for walking a specific number of miles. All money collected goes the American Cancer Society. Walking as teams, tents are set
up so tired members can rest during the early-morning hours. As of Wednesday morning, the school reported that participants raised at least
$100,000.

Government Reform Thought:
None of the school, state or municipal unions are budging on requests to accept reduced raises to prevent layoffs. Government executives,
administrators and bureaucrats are not conceding to receive pay reductions either. In our opinion, everyone should give an inch before we lose a mile.
