D.C., in chilly weather on Tuesday for the official swearing-in ceremony for United States President Barack Obama, the 44th President and the first
African-American to be elected as leader of the nation. The mood was festive, and the ceremony was well managed, as millions throughout the
world viewed the inauguration on television and the Internet.

RECORD BREAKING...The Fanwood Fire Department and Rescue Squad held their
awards dinner last Saturday at Berkeley Plaza. Volunteer firefighters Bob Brennan, right, and Russ Hamill, center, along with EMT Nancy D’Ambrosio
received awards for 35 years of service from Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr, left. Bob Kruthers of the rescue squad for 52 years was honored for
achieving the 5,000-call mark in 2008. Only two other members ever hit that number in the 60 years of the squad’s history.
