Information
Professional Background: Ms. Stender has been
involved in public service since 1988. She currently is
serving her fourth term in the New Jersey General
Assembly. Now a full-time legislator, Ms. Stender served
as Foundation Director and Volunteer Coordinator to
Runnels Hospital.
Education: Ms. Stender received a Bachelor of Arts
degree from American University in interdisciplinary
communications.
Experience: Ms. Stender served as a councilwoman in
Fanwood from 1988 to 1990. In 1992, she was elected
Mayor of Fanwood. She served on the Union County Board
of Freeholders from 1994 to 2002. In 2002, Ms. Stender
was elected to the New Jersey General Assembly,
representing the 22nd Legislative District. She serves
as Vice Chairwoman of the Transportation and Pubic Works
Committee. She is also a member of both the Health and
Senior Services Committee and the Tourism and Gaming
Committee She advocates combating global
warming, expanding stem cell research and keeping New
Jersey affordable.
