Professional Background:
Prior to her election as governor of Alaska, Ms. Palin served two
terms on the Wasilla City Council and two terms as the
mayor/manager of Wasilla, Alaska and was elected
president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. She has
also worked short stints as a television sportscaster
for Anchorage television stations.
Education:
Ms. Palin received a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism
from University of Idaho, where she minored in political
science.
Experience:
Ms. Palin was elected as governor of Alaska in 2006.
When elected, Palin became the first
woman to be Alaska's governor,
and the youngest governor in Alaskan history at 42 years
of age upon taking office. Her victory came after she
had helped uncover misconduct in the administration of
Gov. Frank Murkowski, whom she defeated in the
Republican primary.
