Information
Professional Background: Mr. Estrada first became a
member of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders
in 1999. He is currently serving as the county’s first
Latino Freeholder Chairman.
Education: Mr. Estrada graduated from Kean
University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Spanish
and History.
Experience: Having been a member of the Freeholder,
as well as Chairman and Vice-Chairman, Mr. Estrada has
had over 30 years of public service experience. As
Freeholder, Mr. Estrada supported the Freeholder
Scholars initiative, which provides scholarships to
Union County College for eligible residents. Mr. Estrada
also served as Chairman of the Union County Open Space
Trust Fund Committee in 2005, and as Chairman of the
Union County Fiscal Committee in 2006. In 2007 Mr.
Estrada was elected Vice President of the National
Association of Hispanic County Officials. He is also
Manager of the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission's
office in Elizabeth.
