Professional Background:
Mr. Biden was first elected to the United States Senate
in 1972 at the age of twenty-nine. He is now a senior
senator, representing Delaware. Biden unsuccessfully
sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and
2008. In his sixth consecutive term in the Senate, Biden
has served for the sixth-longest period among current
senators.
Education: Mr. Biden
graduated from the University of Delaware in 1965, and
from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1968.
Experience: A
six-term senator, Mr. Biden has
served as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. He
is also long-time member and current chairman of the
Foreign Relations Committee and has worked on resolutions
concerning the Yugoslav wars and the war in Iraq.
