Westfield Board of Education Names Margaret Dolan Superintendent


SPLASH…For his senior project, Westfield High School varsity swimmer Luke Baran organized a swim meet between the WHS varsity team and WHS swimming alumni. Luke will donate the proceeds from the event, held last Saturday, to the One Campaign, a charity that raises awareness and money to combat world poverty and disease. After trailing the alums by 10 points, the varsity team tied the score by sweeping the 50 backstroke, and they went on to win the meet 91-79. See goleader.com/photos.

Government Reform Thoughts

June 13: It appears that the New Jersey Legislature will reach an agreement on the state budget for the coming year prior to the deadline of June 30. Last year, the closed door budget negotiations passed the deadline, and government had to shut down. We think the state should post the budget deliberations on the Internet for transparency and to receive citizen input. The process by the legislators over the past several years have placed the state near bankruptcy and the taxpayers are facing tens of billions of dollars of indebtedness. - Editor's Note: Congratulations to the NJ State Legislature:
