Background: Mr.
Albert, a
lawyer, is currently the first deputy county counsel of the County of Union and
is in private practice at Goodman & Albert in Cranford.

Mr. Albert
graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1985 and Rutgers College in 1982.
Family
Life: Mr.
Albert has lived with his wife of 26 years, Susan, in
Cranford for the past 20 years. They have three children -
Steven, 22, Lauren, 21, and Ryan, 16.
Government
Experience:
The candidate was a member of the Cranford Township Committee from 1993 to 1995, serving as mayor in 1995.
He is the chairman of the Cranford Democratic Committee
and previously served on the borough's planning board. He
has run twice for State Assembly.
Clubs
and Organizations: Mr. Albert has served on a variety of local
boards, including the Cranford Housing Board, Cranford baseball and
softball leagues, Clean Communities Committee and the United Way. Major
Campaign Issues:
The candidate is "fiscally conservative and socially liberal."
His major campaign issues are property-tax relief and ethics reform, supporting the
efforts to ban dual office holding and the Governor's efforts to properly fund public pensions to correct the raiding of public pension monies during past administrations.
