Background: Mr.
O'Grady, a lifelong Elizabeth resident, works for the Elizabeth Board of Education as a
community-attendance liaison. He served in the United States Air Force 1965 to
1969 and is a Vietnam combat veteran.
Education:
The candidate is a high-school graduate.
Family
Life: Mr.
O'Grady has been married to the former Anne Marie Jackowsky for 37 years.
They have four children: Kathleen, Scott, Lisa and Sean.
Government
Experience:
Mr.
O'Grady has been a committeeman representing the second ward,
fourth district in Elizabeth for six years. He has run for
the office of Union County Freeholder four times. He ran for
the second-ward council seat in Elizabeth in June 2006 -
he won the election but lost in September in a court-ordered do-over
election.
Clubs
and Organizations: Mr. O'Grady is a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 253, in Elizabeth.
This is his 30th year as an executive board member of the Elmora Youth
League baseball, softball and basketball programs. He is a
eucharistic minister and adult altar server at Saint Genevieve
Parish in Elizabeth; he also volunteers in different
groups.
