Background: Rev. Dr. Mitchell is a Sheriff’s Officer with the Essex County Sheriff’s Office. He has been in Law enforcement and security for 27 years. He is also the Senior Pastor of the True Vine Baptist Church of Asbury
Park.
Education: The candidate has a bachelors and masters degree from Metropolitan Theological Seminary in Pastoral Theology. He also holds a doctorate degree from United Theological Seminary in Divinity.
Family Life: A resident of Union County for 10
years, Rev. Mitchell has been married to Robin for 22 years. They have two sons, Charles 2nd, 20, who attends Union County College (Cranford campus) and Michael, 19, who will
attend college in the spring semester.
Government Experience: Rev. Mitchell services on the Everett Hatcher committee in Roselle. He oversees community outreaches in Roselle.
Clubs, Organization, Committees: Rev. Mitchell is the president of GoldStar, a consortium of
law-enforcement business professionals and firefighters. He is a member of Police Benevolent
Association 183. He also serves on many religious and civil associations.
Major Campaign Issues: Rev. Mitchell looks forward to restoring integrity to the
Sheriff‘s Office. One of his main goals is to work with all local
law-enforcement agencies to promote a secure Union County.
