Professional
Background: Ms.
McHugh has been employed with the Elizabeth Board of
Education since 1984. She was a special-education teacher
until 1996, and since then she has been an LDT-C at
Elizabeth High School.
Education:
Ms. McHugh, a graduate of Elizabeth High School, earned a
bachelor's degree from Rutgers University and a master's
degree from Kean University. She holds certificates as a
Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant (LDT-C), a
substance-awareness coordinator and supervisor.
Home
Life: Ms. McHugh has been a Union County resident for
more than 40 years; she has been a Linden resident for the
past 18 years and was a 20-year Elizabeth resident.
Experience:
Ms.
McHugh has been involved in neighborhood clean-up efforts with the
Linden Environmental Commission, serving on its budget and
resource-inventory committees. She is on the Mayor Richard J. Gerbounka
Community Fund. She is an Elizabeth Education Association representative
- she serves on its political action committee and previously served on
its legislative action team and as its head building representative.
